According to a renowned reporter from Bloomberg, Mark Gurman, Apple isn’t done with its new refreshed Siri AI. The company’s new and empowered, AI version of its traditional assistant will soon get a new update which should see the power of the new generative AI. However, its development and launch are running behind schedule. In his latest Power On Newsletter for Bloomberg, Gurman stated that due to engineering problems with Siri, the smart features are not working consistently. Therefore, Apple should delay its launch by another month.
Apple To Bring Siri AI with iOS 18.5 instead of planned iOS 18.4 update
The launch of Siri AI was initially scheduled to arrive in April with the iOS 18.4 update. Now, however, it seems that the Apple Intelligence update that boosts Siri capabilities will arrive in May with iOS 18.5. He further states that the new Siri update is a centerpiece of what Apple plans for the Apple Intelligence platform. However, the AI has been released in a modular form, with every big update bringing new features to it. Many of the Apple Intelligence features are still missing in markets like Europe and China. In any case, more languages are coming with the launch of iOS 18.4 in April. However, Siri AI will still be missing.

As you may expect, the new Siri makeover is Apple’s response to the likes of ChatGPT by OpenAI, Google Gemini, and even Llama by Meta. To recall, ChatGPT is available on iOS with an official App. WhatsApp users can access Meta AI straight from the messaging app, and Google Gemini is available via the search app you can get a glimpse of its features by doing a simple Google search via browser. Naturally, Apple wants to have its own AI instead of leaving its users free to rely on alternatives. Therefore, Siri’s new update is one of the most important updates coming to Apple Intelligence.
Unfortunately, the full deployment of Siri and Apple Intelligence could even affect iOS 19 and some of its features. The new Siri AI should tap into your data to give better contextual responses to queries. Moreover, it may offer assistance with certain apps and should have the capability to understand what is happening on the screen.
