Oppo Find N5 Launches as the Thinnest Foldable Smartphone Yet

Oppo Find N5

The quest for the slimmest foldable phone continues, and Oppo has just raised the bar with the highly anticipated Find N5. Building on the success of its predecessor, the Find N3, the N5 pushes the boundaries of foldable design, achieving an unprecedented level of thinness while packing in impressive features.

Oppo Find N5: Redefining the Slim Foldable Phone

Oppo Find N5

The Oppo Find N5 sets a new standard for foldable phone design. Unfolded, it measures a mere 4.21mm, barely thicker than a standard USB-C port. When folded, its thickness is just 8.93mm, making it the slimmest book-style foldable on the market. To put this achievement into perspective, consider its competitors: the Honor Magic V3 measures 4.35mm unfolded and 9.3mm folded, while the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 comes in at 5.6mm and 12.1mm, respectively. Oppo’s achievement is truly remarkable.

Engineering Marvel: The Titanium Flexion Hinge

Oppo’s pursuit of slimness is rooted in its innovative engineering. The heart of the Find N5’s design is the new Titanium Flexion Hinge. This hinge is 26% smaller than the one found in the Find N3, yet it offers increased rigidity and durability. Oppo utilized a complex 3D-printed titanium wing panel and incorporated carbon fiber materials to minimize weight, resulting in a device that weighs just 229 grams.

Durability and Displays: Inside and Out

Beyond its slim profile, the Find N5 boasts another impressive feature: an IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9 water resistance rating, a world first for a foldable phone. This means it can withstand pressurized water jets, even hot water, and can survive submersion. The phone’s frame is constructed from robust 7000 series aluminum, ensuring durability.

The Find N5 features two stunning displays. The main inner screen is an 8.12-inch LTPO OLED with an FHD+ resolution and an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120Hz. Its 9.9:9 aspect ratio and peak brightness of up to 2,100 nits make it ideal for multimedia consumption. The outer display is a 6.62-inch LTPO OLED with FHD+ resolution and a 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Sporting a 20.7:9 aspect ratio and a peak brightness of 2,450 nits, the outer screen is equally impressive. Both screens are compatible with the Oppo Pen stylus (sold separately), enhancing productivity and creativity.

Camera System: Powered by Hasselblad

The Find N5’s camera system is a testament to Oppo’s commitment to image quality. Developed in collaboration with Hasselblad, the triple-camera setup offers a versatile shooting experience. The 50MP main camera features a LYT-700 sensor with a 21mm equivalent focal length and optical image stabilization (OIS). A 50MP periscope telephoto lens (Samsung JN5) provides 3x optical zoom with a 70mm equivalent focal length. An 8MP ultrawide camera (15mm) with autofocus completes the rear camera system.

Performance and Software: Power and Longevity

Under the hood, the Find N5 runs the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Oppo opted for the binned version of the chip, which features one less performance core. The processor is paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, the only configuration available in international markets.

Also, the Find N5 runs on ColorOS 15, based on Android 15. Oppo has committed to providing four years of Android version updates and six years of security patches, ensuring long-term software support. Powering the device is a 5,600mAh silicon carbon battery that supports 80W SuperVOOC wired charging and 50W AirVOOC wireless charging.

Availability and Pricing

So, the Oppo Find N5 will be available from February 28 in Cosmic Black, Misty White, and Dusk Purple. The Dusk Purple color will be exclusive to the Chinese market. The Find N5 cost arround SGD 2,499, which translates to approximately €1,799 or £1,499. Pre-orders begin tomorrow. With its groundbreaking design, impressive features, and focus on user experience, the Oppo Find N5 will redefine the foldable phone landscape.
