For every Pixel smartphone launched, we can always count on a hundred leaks that will pop out before its release. It’s almost like Google does not care about keeping their smartphones a secret. The Pixel 9a seems to be the next smartphone in the pipeline for release and it isn’t an exception to the rule. Ahead of its launch, which should still take a couple of weeks, we are seeing a leaked hands-on video that allegedly shows the smartphone and its new rear design.
The leaked video quickly shows the smartphone’s rear design that follows closely the new visual identity established with the Google Pixel 9 series. The rear is quite clean with a big camera bump on the top left with two modules flanked by an LED flash. The rear also brings a big G logo in case you forget this is a Google Pixel smartphone. Unfortunately, the leak does not show the phone’s display and we can’t even say it’s an operational unit just looking at the video.
Google Pixel 9a Alleged Specifications and Price
The Pixel 9a will launch in an Obsidian color, which is essentially black. It features a small camera bump, indicating that it won’t be the thinnest phone available. This also suggests that the camera sensors may not be top-tier. After all, these typically require larger bumps. As per the rumors, the phone will launch on March 19 and will hit shelves on March 26.
The Pixel 9a will start at $499 for the 128GB version and $599 for 256 GB. Both versions come with 8GB of RAM, a 6.28-inch OLED display with 2,700-nit peak brightness, and a Tensor G4 SoC. In terms of optics, it has a 48 MP main camera, a 13 MP ultrawide, and a 5,100 mAh battery. The phone will run Android 15 and be available in Obsidian, Porcelain, Iris, and Peony.
Considering the phone’s rumored launch in March, we can wait for more leaks in the coming weeks. Google isn’t known for building mysteries and hype for its smartphones, so we expect the search giant to simply confirm its launch at some point in March.
