Vivo’s Taking a Giant Leap: From X200 Ultra to vivo Vision and Beyond!

On March 25, during the Boao Forum for Asia vivo will show off their first-ever mixed reality (MR) headset, the vivo Vision. Now, don’t get too excited just yet – they’re saying the actual prototype won’t be ready until mid-2025. But, still, it’s a peek into where they’re heading and it surely looks very interesting!

Why delve into MR you might ask? Well, Vivo’s thinking ahead. They’re trying to get really good at this thing called “real-time spatial computing,” which, in plain terms, means making tech that understands the world around it. They figure this is gonna be huge for future robots and the vivo vision headset is going to be their first try.

Vivo Robotics Laboratory announced officially

And speaking of robots, they’re also launching the Vivo Robotics Laboratory. Yeah, you heard that right. In his speech, Hu Baishan, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer at vivo, and President of the vivo Central Research Institute, revealed that vivo has officially established the vivo Robotics Lab. By leveraging vivo’s decade of “BlueTech” experience in fields like AI large learning models and imaging, together with the real-time spatial computing capabilities accumulated through vivo Vision, vivo will focus on developing two core areas, the “brain” and “eyes” of robots. At the same time, vivo will focus on the consumer market, developing robotic products for personal and home use.

Oh, and just to remind everyone they still make phones, they’re also announcing the Vivo X200 Ultra, a new high-end phone coming out next month. During the event, vivo’s upcoming flagship imaging smartphone, the vivo X200 Ultra, was honored with the title of “Official Smartphone of Boao Forum for Asia”.

But, really, what they’re aiming for is bigger than just phones or headsets. They’re dreaming of a future where robots are part of our everyday lives, helping out around the house. And they’re saying they want to team up with other companies to make that happen. Basically, Vivo’s trying to build a bridge between us and all this digital stuff, making it easier to use. They’re a tech company that’s big on design and smart devices, and they’re clearly looking beyond just smartphones now.
