Apple iPhone 16 series has witnessed robust demand, particularly for the iPhone 16e, according to the latest report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP). The mid-tier phone, which costs $600, has outsold the 2022 iPhone SE in the United States.
CIRP: iPhone 16 Demand Rises, 16e Impresses Early
CIRP’s findings indicate that the iPhone 16 series performed better in the first quarter of 2024 compared to last year. Up to 74% of all iPhones sold in Q1 were from the iPhone 16 series. This is significantly higher than the 68% market share that the iPhone 15 series commanded in Q1 of 2023. This indicates Apple’s new models are gaining more consumer attention.
The iPhone 16e, a non-flagship model, has represented 7% of all iPhone sales in the US. That is a healthy figure, especially considering its mid-range position in Apple’s product lineup. CIRP notes that the launch performance of the iPhone 16e was better than that of the iPhone SE, reflecting greater initial demand for this phone.
Certain factors contribute to the popularity of the iPhone 16e. It features Apple‘s latest A18 chip, a 6.1-inch OLED display, and premium Apple Intelligence. Such luxuries come at a reasonable cost. Despite the lack of Dynamic Island, MagSafe compatibility, and dual-camera capabilities, the iPhone 16e remains excellent value for money. Some consumers have gone for it due to its capability at a lesser price than the flagships.
Though the iPhone 16e was an enormous success, the remaining models in the iPhone 16 series, both the premium ones, have failed to achieve anything similar. But the iPhone 16e propelled the entire line, and it will continue the same way all the way into the second quarter of 2024.
Overall, the 16e has been a desirable choice for consumers. Its combination of performance, features, and price point has established it as a competitor in the marketplace. Over the course of the year, as time continues, it will be worth seeing how this mid-level model contributes further to the iPhone 16 brand’s success.
