The Vivo Xplay3S has sat at the top of the Vivo range for far too long, what we want now is the Vivo Xplay 5S, but are these leaked images and hardware details the real deal?
When Vivo announced the Xplay3S (in December of 2013) it was years ahead of its time. It was the first Chinese phone to ship with a fingerprint scanner, and the first phone with a 2K resolution display too. Even now after all this time, the Xplay3S sits at the top of the Vivo range and manages to offer hardware that other phone makers are just getting in to place.
Such a ground breaking phone needs a successor, and finally we hope that the Vivo Xplay5s light is at the end of the tunnel with these new leaked photos and specifications.
What we have here are 2 possible leaks, one is a render that shows a pink Vivo Xplay5s with curved display, and the second are photos of a real phone with full metal body.
Gizchina News of the week
The render looks like a slightly modified version the current Vivo Xplay3S phone with a curved rear and an updated fingerprint scanner.
The purported leaked photos show an all new, all metal design with dual LED flash, laser autofocus and fingering scanner. A shot of the top of the device shows it’s a slim design that barely has enough room for the 3.5mm headphone jack.
As for hardware, well a 4K display measuring 6-inches lives on the front, Snapdragon 820 runs the show and 64GB internal storage comes as standard. Selfie lovers will be excited by the 12 mega-pixel front camera while the rear is a 21 mega-pixel sensor.
Vivo Xplay5S specifications
- 6-inch 4K display
- Snapdragon 820 processor
- 4GB RAM
- 64GB internal memory
- 12 mega-pixel front camera
- 21 mega-pixel rear camera
- metal body(?)
- Fingerprint scanner
Personally I’m excited at the prospect of a Vivo Xplay5S, but am not convinced that this metal bodied phone is the flagship Vivo. Still what ever Vivo it ends up being it certainly has my attention.
Size and specifications are just right for me. But price? Let’s wait for it to launch first. Being a Vivo, I don’t expect it to be cheap.
my guess is $650
Finally some news about Vivo 5S. Hope they are real. Also still expecting news about Oppo Find 9. Looks like these manufacturers decided to skip the Snapdragon 810 cycle.
Take my money now! Lol been waiting a long time for this.
your patience has been rewarded. 🙂
…but be prepared to sign a big fat check
its the perfect phone !
except for the price tag ;_;
Haha … exactly what I was about to tell @disqus_UoWSAuyU5w:disqus. I was gonna STRESS the BIG FAT CHEQUE part though … lol
will be out of my range :'(
will be out of most of the people’s range
ofcourse…
At least most of us here for sure, ???
6″ 4K screen and SD 820 ? Kick ass !!!!
Don’t kind of like it.. back ..
Specs, fantastic…design hmmm.
I want a new Xshot!
Waooo what a nice set of SPECs and it looks great too. I might be the party crasher BUT if the phone’s so thin and then has all those power full spec’s I can’t help my self but to think: BATTERY LIFE … High flyers phones are kind of known for blowing a rather perfect device with crappy battery life. As this is a leak I do hope it is a accurate one but that they curve the back and fit a 4000mah so that whoever buys it can enjoy it longer before having to plug it in. I know fast charging is good and all, but is even better to get through the day and charging it NORMALY during your night sleep so battery life quality won’t suffer over that fast charging feature over the months.
Take My monies NOW
vivo makes impressive phones with super specs. but that’s all. there are no developers for this brand in order to make custom roms. Last year I had a Vivo Xshot ( 3gb ram, Snapdragon 805 super camera, in fact the best i’ve seen in night mode) but even untill now nobody ported Cyanogenmod for it(and it had Snapdragon not Mtk or Exynos). Xiaomi and Oppo are the only brands having more developers for custom roms. Chinese phone marked improved a lot in the past two years but too bad these phones don’t have the support they should have.
I guess that’s because developers go to best price per spec phones…Vivo has great specs but the price is even higher than more established brands line Samsung or LG…
It’s a good point but on the other hand flagship phones made by Samsung, Htc, Lg have that kind of support. From one point of view it is normal to pay a higher price for a quality product even though we all want to pay less for top quality. Chinese brands would have more developers support if advertised and sold more abroad. Nevertheless, it’s been a progress and it is a very good thing that well known brands now have some very good chinese alternatives.
What is “fingering sensor” for, Andy?
looks like the price for vivo’s top phones will jump a bit. that looks like a $650 price minimum if I were to guess
i hope it is comming for the real but i afraid about the price
