Cubot 550 gets the new ‘Cubot’ build with rear fingerprint scanner

cubot 550

Cubot’s new phones have shown improved build, and new materials, the latest addition will also show off touch fingerprint security.

When Cubot released the X16 and then the X17 they showed that they were able to build higher quality phones, but also confused their range by having two phones that were a little too similar to one another in design, spec and price.

The Cubot 550 again looks like the X16 and X17 with metal chassis and dual 2.5D glass panels front and rear but see the addition of a rear touch fingerprint scanner for quick and easy access and boosted security.

The rest of the hardware is all standard fare with a Mediatek MT6735 chipset, 5.5-inch display, 2GB RAM and 8 mega-pixel rear camera, all wrapped in a 7mm shell. Cubot have mentioned what the price might be but from their previous phones we expect the 550 to be priced similar to the X16 and X17. More details on the Cubot Facebook page.

Not being an X phone and with only 8MP rear I don’t think this will be anywhere near $170

any juayu s3 or ecoo e04 or Xtouch or a bunch of other will be better option, then you have the umi rome the other paris phone and who knows… sometimes some companies are willing to lose moneys just because they NEED to feel they threw something “new” what a joke.!!!

We are sick and tired of mtk6753 and mtk6735,
stick with mtk6795 or 6755 or just wait little more to implement a Helio x20 phone
Beautiful phones these Cubots but I can’t really find any reason to buy instead of Letv X600 or Xiaomi Redmi note 2.
    Just saying..

Why? If you don’t confuse your phone with a game console there is no need for more powerful processors. Communication, social media and internet browsing all works flawless for me.

Redmi note 2 (TDD Version but confirm can use FDD LTE on SIM1) now selling at everbuying only at $124.

I am not even sure why all china vendors now still producing their lousy smartphone with lousy processor (MT6735 / MT6753) but with so high prices ?????
