There was a time that Chinese brands competed on screen size but with most brands settling on 5.5-inch these days its quite a surprise when a 7-inch monster rears its head.
Over in China the Philips brand is used on smartphones and sold in retail stores. I’m not sure if the Danish brand has any part in designing these phones or if they are just ODM devices, but whatever the set up it’s working for Philips and the brand image.
Gizchina News of the week
In the past Philips branded phones have featured good design or big batteries to attract customers but for the S711L, Philips are going for size.
The phone recently passed through the Chinese TENAA approval process where specifications list it as a 7-inch FHD phone, running a 1.3Ghz oct-core chipset and 3GB RAM.
It remains to be seen how Philips intend to market this device (tablet, phablet or phone) but chances are you won’t be seeing one in the flesh unless you come to China.
Dutch brand.
The name is used under license by a Chiense company. Just like inFocus is an American company but their phones are 100% Chinese and made by Foxconn.
What he’s saying is that Philips is Dutch, not Danish.
Of course it s dutch but for some people dutch ,danish, austria ,australia are very similar too .China Electronics Corporation owns Phillips phones division since 2007.
that looks like a 16:10 screen — 16:10 even at 6 inches is a tad wide.
