We’ve been fed a lot of Intel Cherry Trail Atom-x5 Z8300 tablets in the recent past. While the new Teclast X10 features far from stellar specs, what it does offer is a monotony break.
That because the Teclast X10 comes with a MediaTek SoC and not an Intel Atom chip, one that’s found its way into a load of budget tablets. Let’s take a look.
The X10 has a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 pixel screen, and is powered by the 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek MT8392. While the MT8392 isn’t the newest or the most powerful SoC in town (it is, in fact the tablet equivalent of the MT6592), it still is a decent chip to fiddle with.
Gizchina News of the week
Having the MT8392 means that the on-board modem can be used to offer 3G capabilities, which the Teclast X10 does. Other specs of the X10 include 1GB RAM, 16GB on-board ROM, 2.4GHz/5GHz dual-band WiFi, 2 mega-pixel front facing camera, 0.3 mega-pixel rear camera, 5800mAh battery, and a single SIM slot.
At $118, we feel the tablet could do with a gig or two of RAM. However, the X10 might be something on-the-go users might be interested in thanks to its 3G capabilities.
Interestingly, the makers of the X10 define the device as a ‘phablet.’ Not sure who the target market is, for them!
Why didn’t they put an actual X10 in it :-).
And a decent battery, they seem to have a real big problem to get there hands on decent batteries
Well this is a refreshing change amongst the sea of crappy cherry trail tablets we’ve been seeing. However, the thing that really stands out on this is the dual band wifi, that’s almost unheard of in Chinese tablets. Shame they only stuck 1GB Ram in this thing.

ok…. so this is a *new* tablet that is less well specced than my 2 year old Cube Talk 9X…… might work as a half-decent in car GPS or media player…. that’s about it!

Camera-Shame… again…
why do tablet makers always skimp on parts compared to phones? Honestly there’s hardly a tablet out there than compares to today’s flagship smartphones .. and not just on CPU, but often enough mass storage, pixels, and RAM too
That’s weird indeed.
I understand that the market is not as big as the smartphones one but still…
Good for Apple I guess, they have barely competition over this field
Old and busted, no point in getting a tablet that doesn’t offers Dual Boot.
Dual boot necessitates atom processors. X86 is not friendly to Android. I honestly wonder why no tablets have more ram or better SoCs, they need specs a lot more than phones because of having more to draw.
The enemy of tablets are cr*p tablets, no wonder that tablets don’t sell anymore, they’re offering 4 year old specs, are Laggy and dotty…

I would have a hard time picking this over some 2-3 year old tablets that cost the same from better brands.
Are you still looking for a tablet or you’ve found one?
I decided on the Mipad 2. I had some coupons for a reseller that were going to expire so I got it for around $150.

Cube T8 Plus is just 8 inches but better in every other way. Dual SIM LTE and 1920 x 1200 resolution and 2 gigs of RAM and a faster modern mediatek processor (8783?). For $120.
8 inches means it’s also a lot lighter and at 16×10 even fits in the front pocket believe it or not. On about half of my pants. So a complete pleasure on the road with a more advanced GPS system as well.
If you go with an Intel processor you will not get onboard LTE at all, much less two SIM cards.
I have a number of tablets of each design and for my money I want that fiber grade Cellular Connection. I don’t want to be running Windows on anything smaller than about 11 inches .
And you can even hold it like a phone which you definitely can’t do with a 10 inch tablet unless you’re a starter in the NBA.
I’m not buying anything running 720p resolution ever again. It’s 2016. And I want LTE on everything now. Again it’s 2016 and you can get all of that for a little north of $100.
