Emerging Chinese phone maker Vernee is trying to make its mark on the market and the announced Thor and Apollo models certainly garnered quite some attention. So we decided to look at the company as a whole to get some sort of a general idea who they are.
Vernee is pretty new fledgling company being founded just in February 2016 and belongs under the wing of New-Bund Network Technology Co. Ltd. , which is on the market since 2014 and so far specialized mostly in OEM/ODM production. Not surprisingly the company is Shenzhen based, but with subsidiaries in HongKong, Shanghai and Xi’an the scope is larger than that.
With access to a strong R&D team with over 210 engineers and New-Bund bunch of international certificates and qualifications (mainly the Mediatek one) their plans are pretty bold in entering the smartphone market with quality product for reasonable price. After all future belongs to the bold ones so lets cross fingers for Vernee to deliver in 2016 something as good and promising as they say.

I like how the comments here have nothing to do with the article! I understand where people are coming from as I’m from the UK and I sometimes struggle to understand the poor grammar in some of these articles. Not sure why they insist on non native speakers to write up articles on an English based website. I would love to do it myself as I’m a techno nut! By the way, why don’t any of the authors ever bother in the comments section as it seems only Andi and Yash ever make the effort. Rant over ☺

We all know the sites that give dodgy reviews (I can think of two very large ones) GizChina isn’t one of them. Just check our most recent reviews for the Xiaomi Mi5, Elephone, etc

i feel some bias in some of the comments below even though i can understand them somewhat, ive seen similar articles for samsung,motorola etc and no one says they are Ads, i have a question for you all is it even possible for any of you to read an article about a new company and not feel like its an Ad?
There was a story on Android Authority just this weekend about how much of a great buy the new entry level phone from Samsung is. The specs match those of my 2010 Galaxy Nexus S. The author of that article was clearly paid by Samsung to write it.

If anything the big name brands are much more deceptive when it comes to articles. Samsung, Apple, Moto they all have “sponsored” writers will never write a bad article about them no matter how much they mess up.
Personally I look forward to any new brand that enters the market. Competition is always a good thing for a consumer. I have seen articles like the one above about virtually every company in every industry. There is always an “inside look” into a companies factory.

Sorry, but if you make the circuit of the phone tech sites on any given day you will see much of the same news. Companies send out press releases and sometimes they get lucky and the news in the press release gets published.

Nice to see that Vernee has some muscle behind them but the proof is in the pudding.
Sorry but I expect a minimum level of journalism otherwise I will go elsewhere. This is nothing more than a puff piece for Vernee and a poorly written one at that. Unacceptable.

How come except in the first picture of a front desk, I don’t see the name “Vernee” or “New-Bund” in any other “R&D” pictures? We are not even sure they are making phones or condoms or recycling gutter oil…
I have been on factory floors before and typically the only time you see any branding is the following: front of the building, reception desk, administrative area and actual product. You typically won’t see any branding inside the factory itself. And if you look at the last set of pictures you can clearly see a cell phone being tested in the second one.
Rumor has it that New-Bund also owns Elephone. You have been warned.

what if this entire atricle only had a negative tone, and had a doubtful tone towards the company would people say it is an Ad then? maybe not because then it would match up to many people’s feelings

my personal opinion about this, it’s to show customers this brand is not a fake one or would disappear in maybe half years, to show up a proof that could make people not worried before purchase. the point is that we gotta be await when Vernee ship their first load of smartphone out and see how people consider and talk about their brand by using their products. no matter what we read here, we should be objective to this.

I am very tempted to buy their entry level Thor. I have seen it for around $120 online and I could always use a new burner phone for travel and what not.
Yup, the Thor looks quite nice. $120 isn’t bad too, but weren’t they saying it would cost about $99?
$120 was a reseller price. I would be willing to pay that to try out a new brand. That’s a small enough commitment to take a gamble on.

This is more about trying out Vernee and seeing what they offer. This wouldn’t be my exclusive daily phone, it would more or less be an experiment. A phone I would use for a few weeks and then throw in the suitcase for travel. I travel a lot for work and pleasure and I always like to bring a spare phone with me.
