Quad Core Little Pepper Specifications Leaked!

Beidou’s Little Pepper range of phones are still hot news with the spicy duo firing up the Chinese phone market thanks to their price and promises of high performance. The Quad-core version is especially mouth-watering and if these leaked specifications are anything to go by Xiaomi, Meizu and Oppo are all in big trouble!

Beidou’s Quad-core Little Pepper phone follow’s its smaller dual core brother’s concept which is basically a low-cost Android super phone! With the ranging topping $156 phone (no that is not a mistake) boasting a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 CPU! But what about the rest of the specification? How does it fare up when compared to other Chinese phones!

I’ve highlighted what I believe the most import pieces of the Little Pepper Quad Core Chinese phone to be. Obviously the Tegra 3 Quad-core CPU is a pretty fancy processor for such a low-cost phone, but the fact it also get’s 1GB RAM and runs Android 4.0 seems almost to good. Then there is the dual-sim card support (something I can personally live without) and an 8 mega-pixel rear camera!

The only chink in the Little Pepper’s Armor is going to be the 1630mAh battery which I can’t imagine is going to last all that long!

As I’ve yet to see the real thing I’m not getting to excited about the Little Pepper just yet, as both models just seem to good to be true, for the low price something has got to give and I’m worried it is going to be the build quality!

What do you guys think?

Hi, that are great news! 🙂 I know it is a bit bothering, but what about release date? And the other thing I would like to aks – I’m going to buy a new phone, and the two best options for me are JiaYu G3 and Beidou Little Pepper 4core. What is your opinion? Do I really need 4core (not indended for gaming)? JiaYu G3 has far better battery and the alloy body looks great…

    • July 28, 2012

No, news on the release dates yet, and I’m starting to wonder if we will ever see these phones in the metal! If I find a firm date you guys will be the first to know 🙂

Today I’ve tried to purchase 2core Little Pepper based on Qualcomm 8225A, from Internet Shop recommended in this article: “Dual Core Beidou Little Pepper Hands On Video, Pictures And Where To Buy!”, but failed. I was interested with so high Antutu Result , almost same as MTK 6577!
When I asked about the processor inside, person who talked to me dropped the phone, next time they told me that it is out of stock!
Chinese Design Houses which work with Qualcomm such as SimCom and Brighter Wireless say that Mass Production of 8225A will start in September only. So what is inside this “2core” Little Pepper?
Same I think is with 4core Tegra 3 Little Pepper, maybe there is Tegra 2 inside (as I know there is huge stock of Tegra 2 PCBAs in NVIDIA), that is why so low price!

I’ve tried to purchase JiaYu G3 too, but same story! By the way 6577 CPU is in severe shortage now, I do not believe that small companies have enough 6577 CPUs to start Mass Production NOW!
I am ready to apologies, if someone can sell me REAL devices with these specs!

Hi victorqtek. FYI I didn’t recommend any shop in that article, I only linked to it as a source. The only way I would recommend a store is if I had personal dealings with them and in this case I have not. My suggestion would be to only by from a store you feel comfortable buying from. I’m not sure I would want to buy anything from someone who can’t keep hold of a phone 😉 If I do come across a reseller of these phones that I feel happy to suggest to you I will post it here.
Regarding the Little Pepper phones I really am starting to think they are vaporware. What do you think?

Doesn’t make sense…. if it uses Nvidia tegra 3 it should have it’s own GPU. Tegra 3 doesn’t run on Andreno. Usually Andreno is Qualcomms own GPU….

    • July 29, 2012

@Krastiasn That’s the problem with posting articles when you’re ready for sleep I miss details like that! Well spotted!

Indeed, Tegra3 has its own GPU, and most of these specs were already out. A release date would be nice, I’ve already ran into two or three kinda shady sites promising that the phone would be stock the very next day (checked on the 27th, it wrote 28th, checked today, wrote 30th).

BTW, the Adreno 203 is the GPU of the 8225, so that might just have been a little mix-up with the sources.

    Oh also, there’s no 1.5GHz version of Tegra3. Only 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6GHz were ever made (T30L, T30 and T33).

Can’t wait for the release though, I do plan on getting such a phone. Although the design seems to be always changing (first shots shown that it had virtual buttons, just like the Galaxy Nexus, while this shows they made capacitive buttons on par with the virtual ones)

In Japan Arrows X F-10D and it uses Tegra 3 clocked at 1.5. HTC will be bringing out a new HTC ONE X which can clock at 1.7. It maybe be depending on the Custom ROM to bring out the actual capability of the processor. No matter what Tegra 3 is one hell of a fast processor, a 4 + 1 core processor with being the fifth for battery saving. But if you use the phone for a lot of gaming the fifth core is quite useless as I heard that Arrows F-10D needs to be charge within half a day if used a lot of gaming.

Krastiasn, that half-day charging is true for every phone if you really play half a day ;D

The Tegra3 only comes in the three given clock rates as I said, but it is possible that it was underclocked (like the Boxchip A10 SoC, it can take 1.5GHz yet comes downclocked to 1.2GHz).

The fifth core is a “companion core”. It takes over all the four standard core’s role when it’s required (low-power states, or in battery saving mode), providing more juice while having less computing power.

Yes the fifth core is a companion core.
Okay, make sense that it could be underclocked.
Since there is some heating problems with the phone.
We’ll just have to see with the new HTC if it has the same problem…..
We may see smartphones with built fans…. maybe…. just maybe not starting any gossip…..LOL

Is there any Chinese phones coming out comparable to the HTC One X?

    • July 29, 2012

Comparable? Not yet. However the Meizu MX is a great Quad-core Chinese phone, and the new breed of phones from Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei and others should give the One X a run for it’s money.

I’m having some doubt about the specs. The Tegra 3 part is kinda believable; From the Nexus 7 it seems like nVidia is selling them for 2 pence a piece. The screen though… It’s way too different from the dual core version. 4.65 inch, 720p for the Quad-Core vs 4 Inch 480p for the Dual-Core. I’m led to believe that the two phones share the same chassis but with slightly different internals. Correct me if I’m wrong.

    • July 29, 2012

Nope two different size phones the dual core being the budget 4 incher while the quad-core get’s a larger screen. IF they even turn up in stores that is…..

All the fancy features and a tiny battery and a 0.3 mp front camera? Really? If it does come out with the above mentioned weak links, I ain’t buying it. August will anyways heat up the market further..

What of google play – I have read somewhere something about it not having google play and the phone needs to be rooted and you have to `do` things to make it google-playable. I know nothing of these things….
Also, I use China-unicom GSM – does that mean I cannot use 3G services (CDMA is for 3G?).

    • October 5, 2012

I personally would avoid the Little Pepper phones as I’ve not heard anything good about them. If you want a low-cost quad-core take a look at the new phones from Amoi and K-Touch and you could also look at the 4-core Meizu MX which has been reduced.
