Xiaomi are working on a few product, which has just been named the Xiaomi Max through a user poll, and could be the largest Xiaomi to date!
This past week Xiaomi held a user poll where fans could choose from the following names; Xiaomi Pro, Xiaomi Plus, Xiaomi Big and Xiaomi Max. Thankfully fans thought Pro and Plus had already been over used, which left Xiaomi Max in the lead with 51.62% of votes and Xiaomi Big in 2nd (can you imagine if Xiaomi Big had won?).
The use of Max and even Big sparked speculation that Xiaomi are working on a larger phone than normal, a device even larger than the 5.9-inch Xiaomi Mi Note Phablet launched last year.

With the Max name chosen, insiders have started to hint at some of the specs including the screen size which might be as much as 6.4-inches. At this size we might also see Xiaomi opt of a 2K resolution panel too. Other details include the use of a Snapdragon 820 in the new phablet, fingerprint scanner and full network support for all Chinese carriers.
Xiaomi have already set up the official Xiaomi Max Weibo account so we can expect more details to be revealed in the coming weeks.
Anything beyond 6 inches is a tablet, not phablet or phone. Impossible to use on daily basis as phone.
And anything with Mediatek soc is a shit… Lets clarify everything 😀
Mediatek SOC itself is not bad. Quite good actually.
The problem is mediatek software optimization somehow is not optimal (and probably never optimal forever) because all their SOC android development done in house by mediatek programmer themselves.
Not like Qualcomm that always release their source code to the community, since source code available then hundreds or thousand of independent developers around the world can help to fix this SOC android bugs, maximize the potential of the SOC, etc.
I hope mediatek can wake up faster before it is too late. The reason why last year mediatek can success selling their SOC was partly because the shitty snapdragon 820 fiasco. And SD615,SD808 also are consider not so good.
Now Qualcomm already fixed their problem with SD820 at high end and 650/652 at low end. Lesser room for mediatek to move now.
For me if smartphone price only different $40-$50 between mediatek and qualcomm with same level. It is a no brainer to choose qualcomm.
Btw problem is Qualcomm, somehow all the gadgets with their SOC always selling at extra expensive price (EXCEPT XIAOMI). I just wondering why like that ?
Yes, the cpu itself is ok.
I mean the support for it is worse that can be. No sourece code, and that make me totally dissapointed. I’m stucked on 5.0.2, when Android 7 is here…custom roms not woks perfect, problems with fingerprin sensor. After a Samsung I can’t agree with this method, what Mediatek thiks it’s the right one. So, this is my first and last phone, with MTK (Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 mtk version)
I have one RM Note 3 and I am disappointed with the android support, we are stuck on 5.0.2 and android 7 are right on corner.
In Xiaomi forum the guys saying it’s Mtk fault. This is true?
The processor work fine, no lag and no problems with apps, games and GPS .
If you have no issues why are you disappointed with the software? Just because it is not updated to the latest? MIUI is so heavily modified it already contained some features that are just now making it into normal Android. Is there something specific in Android 6.0 you need?
Yes, I have problems with this android.
1- multitasking don’t work fine
When I change between the apps, the app “reload / refresh”
For example, if I am writing here and need open Google translator for checking some words in English, when I back here, sometimes I lose all what I was writing.
Same problem with email, if I am writing and need check my calendar, when back to email, the screen “refresh” and sometimes I lose my text.
2-Android 6 battery improvements
In one normal day I have 50% of battery on end of day.
But sometimes I finish my day without battery with same type of use (I use only wifi)
The battery drain fast without reason
So I believe the android 6 will fix this 2 big problems for me.
Apparently the android 5.1 solved this multitask / memory bug. (in others phones)
Xiaomi already released MIUI7 based on Android 6, not for all models though, i have it on my Mi Note for some time
yes I know, but only Mi note and Mi5 have MIUI7 based on Android 6. So, this is let me think only flagship have good support :-/
Android M was released in September 29, 2015.. and we are almost 7 moths after and nothing about.
Wipe data and install original xiaomi.eu rom. Your rom probably is a sh*t from the seller you bought it. None else has such problems on this phone, with 3GB RAM
I know that you might get security patches when the Note 3 gets and update but that will be it. And yes I know that’s big but it will not look different and it will not operate in a total different way and they don’t care about adding more stock like elements. That’s why I really never understand the fuss that people making about updates when using a Xiaomi device. It will mostly be bug fixes which if you are not on the stable rom is every Friday.
+1 to everything you say. Mediatek software does not cut the biscuit. If they dont have resourses to develop the software let the community do it. I am on my 4th MTK phone and last.
your average consumer wont care about these things though, btew the 650/652 are mid range soc
Qualcomm charges more for their SoC’s than Mediatek does, that is usually one of the price differences. There are other factors as well.
I use 6.8 inches as a daily basis as phone and I will never get used to a smaller phone then 6 inches as daily driver!

The fact in discussing this the Mi Note at 5.7 is now seemingly not considered a phablet by so many is just bizarre to me. The “screen size creep” is real. When the first Galaxy Note launched who would have thought that crazy big screen device would wind up just being… another phone.
Yeah haha, but you should take into account phones had giant bezels back then. If you look on phonearena’s size comparison service, the 5.3″ original galaxy note is almost the same size as the 5.7″ galaxy note 5 (the screen had different dimensions I think) and the 5.2″ Galaxy S7 is considerably smaller. I think it’s more evidence of the shrinking phone bezels than anything.
I have been trying to get a good larger phone now for a while, over 5.7 like 5.9 minimum but there are few options. I missed a HTC One Max on ebay that I really wanted to try.
Really options are limited to very few these days, Nexus 6 and Blu Pure XL are the best two examples I can think of.
I have never held a Nexus 6 but from photos I worry it is too thick/heavy, have you ever tried one?
Asus Zenfone 6. By far one of the best phones I’ve had. Battery life is mental. I charged it once every 2 days. Easily 10hours on screen time.
It is deceptively thick. Like most of the Moto phones it is thick but it feels good in the hand due to the curved back. The weight is pretty good for the size of the phone, it weighs about as much as the Mate 8 which is less than the Pure XL, Lumia 1520 and Sony Z Ultra.
If we are talking 6p isn’t it on 7.3mm thick I could be wrong but I don’t think that is bad

Xiaomi has to come up with something on par with a comparable price, or I’ll move away from my Xiaomi Mi Note Pro with awful battery (2 hours of Youtube and it’s on 0%)
