With a 6.4-inch display, the Xiaomi Max sounds big already, but Huawei have gone bigger (Maxer?) with a 6.-inch P9 Max!
Huawei released the P9 with dual Leica cameras, followed by the single camera P9 Lite this month, but a larger P9 Max is lurking in the shadows waiting to block out the sun with a huge 6.9-inch screen.
Huawei are not strangers to large screen devices, but a 6.9-inch display on a flagship model is even big for them. The leaked screen size details were uncovered by a GFXbench benchmark which also pointed out a 1920 x 1080 resolution, Kirin 950 SoC running at 2.0Ghz, ARM Mali-T880 GPU, 3GB RAM and 32GB memory (25GB available to the user).
Gizchina News of the week
Specs mentions a 15 mega-pixel rear camera on the P9 Max, but we take this to meaning just a single 16 mega-pixel sensor. We also expect a rear fingerprint scanner like the current P9 too.
Huawei are likely to release the P9 Max in the coming weeks but we’re not sure if it will see a China only launch or will be rolled out globally.
They should make it 2k at that size.
I usually am against 2k displays but I agree with you here. On a device this size you will notice the difference.
Agree, fhd seems useless on a screen so big but I don’t think these are official specs.
Next Huawei overprised device. Boring. Andy, add “9” to “…with a 6.-inch P9 Max!…”.

Oh wow… I was waiting for this… But at this size (small hands, small feet small hmmm *cough ?) think it is too big for me as a daily phone, and will be too expensive for a vanity weekend purchase. Also, I was assuming it would have the dual Leica cam setup as opposed to the single 15mp hinted in this article…a bit dissapointed
I believe its Mediapad X3 not P9 Max.
Rumour said before that Mediapad X2 successor will come in May.
So, there is a high chance of it to be X3.
It is called Huawei NEXT on GFXbench… and the NEXT is just the frikken Mate 8 aka Huawei NXT-xxx. No idea why GFXbench reports the screensize wrong, but that’s what it is.

I love big phones but anything over 6.5 is just too big, that’s tablet territory.

@Andi, there is a typo in the first paragraph: “Huawei have gone bigger (Maxer?) with a 6.-inch P9 Max!” I think it was supposed to be 6.9-inch P9 Max.

I know, I know, in this time and age, big phones are all the rage. But come on, 6.9 inches? Phablets are about drawing the line between a phone and a tablet. 5.5″, 5.7″… Heck, even 6.2″. But 6.9″ is clearly playing in tablet territory.
Maybe it’s because I like my phones small (my current device is 5″, and I could maybe try 5.5″ someday). But I don’t know… I don’t see this phone taking off (maybe I’m wrong).
Well luckily you dont have to buy it.
I’m using a galaxy tab s 8.4 as my phone and its great. Couldn’t imagine downsizing to a teensy 6.9″.

I went from the 5.5″ Note 2 to a 6″ Nexus 6. At first I liked it but over time it started to annoy me. It was just to large. I just changed to the Nexus P6 which is 5.7″ and I like it much more. Sure it’s only 0.3″ smaller but it’s noticeable.

It’s a bit disappointing that they didn’t take advantage of the extra screen real estate and upgrade the resolution to 2K or even 4K. 1080p seems a bit light for a device this size.
Nikka plz…1080p is more than fine for a 7″ screen.
