The launch of Apollo Lite is getting near and Vernee has already released quite some details about it, but they are apparently not done yet. Today’s news present the rear camera in detail.
We already know that the Apollo Lite is going to carry deca-core Helio X20 chipset on board paired with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB of storage. Besides that it will support PumpExpress 3.0 quick charge and feature 5.5 FHD Sharp IGZO screen.
Gizchina News of the week
Today’s released rear camera specs reveal the use of Samsung S5K3P3 CMOS sensor in the rear 16 MPix shooter with RGB and PDAF support. According to Samsung, this image sensor has the smallest pixel size so far, which is only 1.0μm and the thickness of the sensor is mere 5mm. Its core ISOCELL technology not only reserves the High ISO performance of BSI CMOS, but also makes it outstanding in the low-light image and color presentation.
Time for some bad news too though, according to our sources the launch of Vernee Apollo Lite will be delayed until June.
with 1.o how is it better in low light, im not saying its false but can some one explain this to me
RGB and ISOCELL will solve problem when in low light environment.
ok i just did some reading up on RGB and isocell i get it now, so because of the vertical arrangement of the diodes the whole package can be smaller, hence “a mere 5mm” and the pixels are isolated so less crosstalk and better preservation of colours in low light as well as less noise
i personally like the performance of Samsung CMOS some times.

is this the FIRST EVER phone to use this sensor ??
OR is the just the first x20 phone ?!
wtf is wrong with the headline ?!
i guess first X20 model
Samsung is using it in a few models. Xiaomi in the Note 3 Pro
ohh … that !
but they said the rn3 pro had a horror-filled performance on camera (maxpower , i believe)
Gionee is using it in the upcoming S8.
exciting !
Weird to brag about a rather poor sensor.
The sensor itself isn’t bad, it takes some incredible photos in the upcoming Gionee S8.
realjjj knows everything, doesnt make sense you make a point
😉
The tool saying this is RGB has an opinion….
what is your first line saying, is it missing a comma? cause its not making sense
Not bad but not something to brag about.
Depends on the rest of the setup. With the right lens and good software optimization it can be an amazing camera.
I don’t really believe in this case it will get a good software optimizations ever.
Depends on Vernee, we really have no clue on this brand one way or the other. They could be the next Elephone or the next LeTV.
New sensor & unknown brand don’t sound much reassuring.
Sensor really isn’t that new, it has been around since last summer and has been used in a few phones already.
Well that is actually a good news as Samsung collaborates a little more than others sharing software optimizations with tho who ever he sells it’s Moffett’s.
so I assume you are still waiting on your Thor? I’m pretty excited about the Apollo Lite
Yup supposed to be shipping out this month, we will see.
On a good note I have been using a THL T7 for about 2 weeks now and it is not too bad for a 6753 budget phone.
such a pity it will be delayed 🙁 I hope Vernee can compesate with a good price for a good quality phone
sor far 190 $ is what im seeing for it and its looking good on paper
It is indeed
Yeah, so everyone involved in photography knows that larger sensor/pixel size means better performance (If both are essentialy the same otherwise) and their marketing goes for “worlds smallest pixel size”? Maybe they should go and tell it to all those pro photographers with full frame DSLRs 😀
Or they could tell it to the consumers who it is marketed towards. Not sure why a Pro Photographer would be considering a Vernee Thor over a Cannon Rebel…..
A pro photographer should consider the ZTE Nubia line. Amazing photography capabilities in the Z9.
A pro photographer will already have a DSLR to take photos with.
Summer flagship killer for 199$? Sign me up 😀
Vernee so far have been keeping promises and their two products have received quite the praise.
From the paper, it looks worth the time.
Better a good product a bit later, than a rushed one.
Well this quote never worked for ELE-phony
Ele-phony usually has 10 phones coming out at once. These guys only have 3 so far and one has been released to good reviews.
True. I’m hoping they have like a VUI or something 😀
I’m starting to dislike stock google UI
Maybe not. Maybe worked, imagine that their quality would be even worse..
Elephones biggest problem is the following quote:
“Never put all your eggs in one basket”.
They try to diversify too much. Instead of focusing on one or two products and perfecting them, they will release 12 phones a year plus action cameras and accessories. They are trying to be the next Xiaomi, without actually being Xiaomi. Xiaomi started out with just software, then just one phone at a time until they figured out how to make great phones. Then they expanded.
Looks good to me
How much longer do we have to wait for the X20? This is becoming vaporware.
It’s following the same path as the X10. The first X10 phones didn’t launch until around May/June.
longer time they spend to solve issues of the phone the better using experience and quality we hold it in our hands, so let’s be patient 😉
We can be patient to a point, eventually they have to release something or they become the next Elephone.
totally agreed.
how many frames per second for recording on 720 resolution
Can we assume that they will include real OIS? Can you check Karel. To me that is a bigger deal than pdaf and I would have to order it in advance just to find out it is the crappy EIS we see on many samsung sensors.
OIS and EIS aren’t the same on every phone, they can actually produce near identical results if implemented properly. On the flip side just having OIS doesn’t mean a thing, you can have “real” OIS and still not have great stabilization. The best thing would be to have both of them.
My God I’m tired of manufacturers trying to claim being world’s first helio X20 without actually launching the acclaimed phone.
I mean c’mon if anyone’s got a right to that claim it would prolly be LeEco whose Le2 is already being unboxed and first impressioned by reviewers.
not firts x20 first x20 with that samsung sensor
Sounds like he read the first 8 words of the title and jumped right to the comments section.
Sounds even more like a bad auto-translation of a Samsung press release. The whole article, I mean.
😛
Nice marketing strategy Vernee. The Redmi note 3 Pro already has this sensor although this is not advertised anywhere.
Vernee Apollo Lite has 16 MP sony lens in it’s rear camera 🙂
But i already have bought a Bluboo Maya at $69.99,The shipping of bluboo maya has already begins from 10th of july,Now i am just waiting to get it in my hands.
