OnePlus 3 could feature OPPO’s VOOC fast charging

oppo vooc 3.0

OPPO might not be discussed as often here as it used to during its Find 5 days, but the brand has sure tried hard to push the edge. One development that impressed us all was OPPO’s VOOC fast charging, which has undergone some serious updates in the recent past.

News is that OnePlus’ upcoming phone, the OnePlus 3 could feature VOOC. That the people behind OnePlus and OPPO have a friendly relationship is no secret, so it might well happen the OPPO lend their VOOC tech to the young brand to use on their shiny new phone.

Gizchina News of the week

Honestly, OnePlus could do with something like that. The OnePlus 2 lacked fast charging, and that made the company the subject for a lot of controversy. That said, it most certainly won’t be Super VOOC that OPPO showed off at the MWC this year.

Other things that the OnePlus 3 will have – Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4-6GB RAM, a 16 mega-pixel rear camera, and more.

What do you think about VOOC?

I guess they learned the lesson from that moronic choice to put no fast charging into the OP2.

So far I’m liking the what’s coming out about this OP3, I’ll keep an eye on it with interest

Might get OP3 depending how attractive the design is, I dislike the camera setup on OP2

I think he means the back of the phone how they placed the camera.

I am liking it too but I need to see 2 things from OP3 before I would consider buying it: better design and no more invite system.

I didn’t mind their previous design.

I hate their invite system too, but what alternatives do we have?
        We’ll buy from resellers anyway…

If they make their invite system less tight then we might get a chance to get the phone at “Chinese” price without jumping through the hoop.

        Let’s see what happens.

I just don’t like the negative stigma from the invite system. Every company does something similar be it flash sales or limited inventory sales. But the invite system wreaks of entitlement.

As for the design I don’t mind the design itself and I usually actually love OPPO designs, but I hated how big and bulky the 2 was. If they can get the 3 to under 9mm thick and less than 160 grams I would be very interested.

Like I’ve said last year, the OP2 was designed by a group of monkeys who charged just a few compared to human designers, I hope this time OPO has gone to the human option.

Ps: Sorry, but I really hated the OP2 design ‘changes’

No worries you and me both. I borrowed a friends and used it for 2 weeks, we swapped phones, I liked the software, the camera was pretty good but I just couldn’t get past that design. Felt huge in my hands and it was beyond fugly.

why would OPPO hand over their tech to OP ?

    • NextHype
      May 6, 2016

a document from the Shenzhen Municipal Market Supervisory Authority (SIPO) files shows that OnePlus has one institutional stockholder and that is Oppo.

BTW no one said they just handed over their tech, maybe OP bought it for a few bucks or a cup of coffee.

        nice info …. but

what do you mean by “OP bought it for a few bucks or cup o’ coffee” ??

I mean, if they’re sharing investors, they may be sharing tech as well. So the price of the tech transfer may be symbolic.

A phone without fast charging in 2K16 can’t be a flagship. It was time OP get this tech… i think it would have been a showstopper for many consumers (like me) if OP3 was launched without any fast charging tech.

What will follow isn’t totally relevant to this subject but hey… we get all hyped and sh*t over Zuk Z2 and now everything’s quiet. The next duel over affordable flagships will probably be fought in May/June between Z2 and OP3 (as Mi5 is weak and Le2 lacks 3.5 jack), plz get us more info, GC pals ^^
