The Zenfone 2 was one of the most exciting phones of 2015, and Asus look set to keep the momentum going with the Zenfone 3 this year spotted on Antutu with Snapdragon 820 chipset.
While not a perfect device, the Zenfone 2 had a lot going for it. It had a powerful chipset, a lot of RAM, decent overall hardware and incredible pricing.
So with that all to live up to what will the Zenfone 3 have to offer?
Antutu benchmarks posted earlier today are rumoured to be from the Zenfone 3. The phone labeled as the Asus Z016D features a Snapdragon 820 chipset, 1920 x 1080 display, 4GB RAM. 32GB memory, and Android 6.0.1.
Gizchina News of the week
As you can see from the specs, this version of the Zenfone 3 isn’t set to make new RAM records, but with an 8 mega-pixel front camera and 23 mega-pixel rear we might see some better performance in these department this time around.
For those of you who still think Antutu scores are worth reading in to then the Zenfone 3 scored 135,000 points, which has it ranking just behind the Galaxy S7 Edge, Xiaomi Mi5 and LeTV LeMax 2.
We still have around a month before the Zenfone 3 is launched, but if Chinese media are correct it could be well worth it as pricing could be as low as 1999 Yuan.
It’s more likely that Asus will use SD652 so don’t get your expectations up.
My guess is there will be at least 2 different SOC’s 🙂
3 actually … they will also use one of the Helios !
Nevertheless witch SOC will use (SD820 or SD652), it could be still a good option. It just depend on battery life, camera performance, other relevant features, and of course, the price.
For now, I’ll keep my eyes on more news about this phone.
I will skip this gen …I have the Zen 2 with Intel and it’s working perfectly I don’t need something more…
Yeah, I’m using the Galaxy S6 now and I went to Samsung to test out the S7 the other day. Eventho on paper you could see the huge spec bump but as i was playing with it, it didn’t feel much different from my current S6. I’ll probably skip this gen too.
I have a s6 as well but the battery life is so bad I can’t make it through a day without having to charge in the middle so I’m interested in this phone 🙁
True. battery life not so great but I use a car charger so it’s fine for now, I get to charge it In my car.
135,000 omg, yay! I’ll bet it will go higher with future optimizations!
Finally one phone I can consider provided it’s also dual sim + sd, nfc, has IR blaster, removable battery and back cover, is nearly borderless, has wake gestures, a fingerprint sensor, a dedicated audio chip / op-amp, hardware OIS for the camera, with laser focus, and backlit hardware nav buttons.
Since when zenphone line got a high end SOC ?
Normally asus is very stingy with hardware specification and the pricing is not really cheap
actually the zenfone 2 was really cheap for a 4gb ram phone with that intel chip..was a pretty good performer for that price at launch
Yes 135,000!! I was going to get a phone last week but it only scored 134,999! I refuse to get anything below 135,000. The rest of the specs don’t matter as long as it gets that score!
Ha… Ha.. Ha…Let me laugh…
135k is for loosers, even this Mi5 crap hits 136k+
I won’t even bother reading articles on a sub-136k phone.
You’re soooooo Q1 2016 !
i dont want to buy a phone now..gonna wait till the 200k antutu scores before i place my order.
I was at least waiting for 145,000
My thoughts, exactly. Although I’d take anything within +/- 5000 deviation.
Can’t wait to see other synthetics for this device surface slowly.
135,000 is a great score and I’M EXCITED!
However, will there (or is there) any phone that has gone even higher?
(Consitently, not one off scores).
Has any phone scored 140,000 or higher (consistently) already?
I think you missed the sarcasm…
Yet most apps and games run a tad smoother on the Kirin 955 which scores just below 100000k.
Performance is nothing without the proper software to drive it.
true words.

Intel subsidized its mobile chips heavily and that is why zenfone 2 was great value for money. With qualcomm it won’t be the same..

yup
WoW, Asus actually giving a go for a really high-end phone?
Things just got allot more interesting, what’s next? Homtom or UMI getting an SD820?
Qualcomm looks to be selling to whoever’s buying, they must have been really burned by the whole SD810/615 fiasco.
