The Xiaomi Mi Note is (in my opinion) still the best made Xiaomi to date, so I’m pretty excited about the prospect of the 2nd gen model and these possible specs.
Xiaomi have already launched plenty of new phones this year from a new phablet, new flagship phone and a bunch of Redmi models, so the only logical place to look now is the Mi note range.
Launched last year, the Xiaomi Mi Note was the first Xiaomi to get the curved rear treatment, and the first phone from the company that could be classed as being premium. Even now the phone feels better than other Mi devices on the market.
Later this year a Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to launch and according to sources the specs should be quite exciting.
Gizchina News of the week
Apparently Xiaomi are going to launch the Mi Note 2 this summer and will launch a standard version with 1080 display and a flagship phone with 2K curved display like the Vivo Xplay 5.
Both phone all have a 5.7-inch display and there will also be options for a force touch panel too. Dual 12 mega-pixel cameras are expected on the phones, as is a 4000mAh battery, fast charging, fingerprint scanner and up to 6GB RAM.
Pricing will be higher than usual with the standard 4GB RAM + 32GB model costing 2499 Yuan, 6GB + 64GB standard at 2999 Yuan and a 6GB RAM + 128GB memory curved panel version coming in at 3499 Yuan.
If only it ended up being even ‘close’ to those figures after the re-sellers have got their hands on it… 🙁
it just always needs time..for example the default mi5 and so on are now all pretty on par with the real price
sadly a bit to alte for me..went with the le max 2 and i’m really happy with it, althought i might have planned to give meizu another shot next year..simply because the old mx4 still feels the best in my hand and i like the iphonish meizu design and front fingerprint/button that does it all
Zuk and Huawei have a multi function fingerprint sensor as well. And both of those phones you can customize it to do all sorts of different things like take photo.
yeah but huawei got it on the back 😀 i would really like a phone with sucha multi function button like on meizu and zuk..both are in the running for the phone next year ^^
i wonder if its also possible with the mi 5 but i dont like the design of the mi 5 so much..i preffer like more rounded and 2,5D glass
but still completely happy with my le max 2..maybe i will buy a mx 6 / pro 6 / zuk z2 pro once its cheaper in about a year to have a more compact phone..the vivo x7 also looked really nice..but with the vivo price ofc.
Don’t forget to add in pack the locked bootloader and 99% of useless information in official forum.
In other hand, I agree with Andi, probably Mi note is the best device from xiaomi. This is means better support compared with my Redmi note 3 (totally no support / stuck in android 5.0 forever)
The bootloader can be unlocked, even if it’s a bit of a hassle with their slow process. However the forum is horrendous, page after page of poststs saying “thank you” “Great stuff” etc. what’s the point of that. I use the EU forums for the most part.
Looks like recently it improved and they keep unlocking it in 3-4 days.
I also have redmi note 3 pro (snapdragon 650) chipset model. And since it has locked bootloader and reseller unofficial bloatware filled crappy rom i’m totally screwed. I only recently submitted unlocking form and waiting for their unlocking approval. And who knows whether i will even get the sms. Anyway this is the last xiaomi phone I will ever buy. Never realized buying a phone and getting a crappy software is headache inducing.
I think to flash to Mi official global firmware you don’t need to unlock the bootloader.
Search google on how to use Miflash. It can be use to flash to whatever firmware you want (Global stable, China stable, developer ,etc).
You only need to unlock the bootloader if you want to flash to Non Xiaomi firmware (Ie :CyanogenMOD, etc)
It was “announced” awhile back, but officially today, that the Redmi Note 3 will get MIUI 8 which is based off Android 6. Beta is out now. Offical Global is out 16 Aug.
I don’t know if do you read about Miui 8 developer version in Redmi note 3, but they are coming with Android 5….
So, surprise!
Inclusive you can see one topic about this in official forum :

im not really sure how anyone can be excited for xiaomi anymore :/ the mi 5 was also suppose to be amazing…. and there cameras are stiiiiilll not good enough buuuut well i hope they do it right
Well, it looks like daylight photos are actually more than good enough, it’s just the lowlight scenes that suffer in this case. For some it’s more important than for others – me for ex., but still, camera isn’t bad.
It would be my phone of choice, if they improved the camera in it.
i mean to say good daylight photos for phone cameras isnt much to talk about seeing how even budget phones can do this, but i sure do hope they work on their build quality cause of lately it has been horrendous especially with the mi max
You’re right, but Mi5 is better than just that. Very good image stabilisation. Extremely fast focusing and shutter. Great ‘in motion’ pictures. Andi still recommends it a lot.
You’re right that a good phone camera can be recognised by the quality of its’ lowlight photos, though.
Personally I am not a fan of the Mi5 camera and I am longtime self admitted Xiaomi fanboy. I spent about 2 weeks with a Mi5 on a trip to China and to me the camera was nowhere near as good as the Huawei P9 or LG G5. It’s good but not great.
I don’t take much stock into lowlight photos because most of them are terrible, even the ones that are the supposed “class leaders”.
I disagree since Mi5’s camera is pretty decent.
In 400$ price range the best cameras so far are from OnePlus 3, Xiaomi Mi5 and prolly the Nubia Z11 mini (Moto G4 Plus is also a capable camera).
We have to wait for Huawei Honor 8 and Asus Zenfone 3.
Overall OnePlus 3 is on par with Xiaomi Mi5 – colors are more saturated on Mi5, but it seems OnePlus is better at low light.
Good thing also front camera on OnePlus 3 has good stabilization.
Oh but xiamoi’s build quality has been a disgrace lately
I’m also not sure about that.
If you’re referring to the bend test by Jerry: there is another Indian bend test where Xiaomi Mi 5 survives.
Plus Nexus 6P died in Jerrys hand, too (which is basically a high premium phone).
The Xiaomi Mi Max is a solid phone – yes, displays pops out quite a bit after bend test, but that’s all. No cracking.
lets just disagree because i cant see how in the world if you barely bend the mi max the frame peels away and the screen pops up isnt bad build quality emphasis on build quality
Show me a video where the Mix Max is BARELY bend and frame peels away as a result.

I was expecting this video.
This is no barely pressure to me anymore.
Again it doesn’t break, if you saw the “teardown” video, you’ll understand why it pops out.
I must totally weird I am so enjoying using my mi5
Unless it has global LTE I am not interested. It’s 2016 and UMi is starting to offer global LTE, no reason the biggest in China can’t.
I second that.
I agree with global LTE, but it’s not only Xiaomi.
Meizu and Vivo are also slow.
Yup there’s no excuse for any of them.
You still rocking an mx5?
Nope I have a Nextbit Robin (personal) and Nexus 5x (work).
If you are comparing Mi5’s camera with Samsung galaxy 7 or LG5, I think it is a gross injustice. Both of them burn a hole in your pocket more than twice as Mi5.
While that is a fair criticism to make the Mi5 is the Flagship from Xiaomi and as such will be compared to other flagships. Especially since most of the specs are flagship level specs.
All models have curved screen?
Could be good, given it’ll almost certainly have a Samsung AMOLED … hopefully of the newer, higher grade kind … rather than POS in the OnePlus 3.
