Gionee have just launched two new phones this morning in China, the first to feature dedicated security chips for enhanced data safety.
Over in China this morning, Gionee (the company behind the now extinct IUNI brand) have just released two new smartphones. Just as it is with most phones these days the Gionee M6 and Gionee M6 Plus are hardly a surprise (plenty of leaks in the run up), but now we have final, official specifications and photos of each.
The Gionee M6 is the smaller of the two new Gionee’s with a smaller physical size, smaller 5.5-inch AMOLED display and smaller 5000mAh battery.
For the M6, Gionee have opted for a 1.8Ghz Octaocre chipset, 4GB RAM, and options for either 32, 64 or 128GB internal memory with the added bonus of allowing you to use up to 128GB SD cards.
The M6 also boasts an 8 mega-pixel front camera, 13 mega-pixel rear camera, dual LED flash, fingerprint scanner and reverse charging.
Gizchina News of the week
If you like the M6 but want a bigger display, more processing power and a larger battery then Gionee are offering the Gionee M6 Plus. This version of the phone offers a 6-inch FHD display, 2.0Ghz Helio P10 chipset, and 6020mAh battery.
RAM is the same as the M6 (4GB) while internal memory is offered at 64GB.
The big update on the M6 Plus over the M6 is the added independent security chip that supports 10 layers of defence to the phone to ensure that your personal data and payments are fully protected. It’s also worth mentioning that Gionee have cancelled the 3.5mm headphone jack from the M6 Plus too.
Gionee will release both the M6 and M6 Plus in China first, but as the company have such a following around the world we expect to see the handsets release in other regions too.
if this had band 20 I’d buy it
The best i can tell, for now, there is no 32GB version (i know some sources mention 32GB).
The event just ended mins ago and the prices they mentioned are
M6 starting at 2699CNY(404$) for 64GB while 128GB is 200CNY more
M6 Plus at 2999CNY (449$) again with 64GB and 200CNY more for 128GB.
hory shet thats just op…
Once again no specs on the battery can’t OEMS have the decency to show the batteries density is it at least 650 Wh/l if not then a phone like the cubot dinosaur with it’s 4k may battery will beat its battery life easily, I remember Steven fox saying it would be at least $300 but I said at least 350 we were both wrong lol I’d love.to.see reviews for this but nah this is a gionee phone so unlikely until it becomes a blu
Wh/l is volumetric energy density, listing it doesn’t really help you. Higher is not better,it’s just smaller. Higher only helps with the size of the device.
Anyway they mentioned 700Wh/l or above , Gioogle Translate is not ideal.
If what you actually want is WHr , assuming 3.85V you would have 19.25WHr for 5000nAh.
Ahh thank you
You mean 5000mAh – nAh would be a really small value – I know it’s just a typo 🙂
Thanks, will edit to fix it.

price !?
Gionee gets too hot if mobile is on, also the M5 states a whooping 6kmAh but instead it’s only 5kmAh but overall it is worth the price. The little concern is it gets too hot and longevity gets depreciated also no software updates from Gionee.
6″ inch fhd amoled…6050mah battery, 4gb and 64gb of rom…sound promising…where is the joke on this m6 plus??
