Lenovo Vibe K5 Note launched in India, starts 11,999 INR ($171)

As expected, Lenovo announced yet another Redmi Note 3 competitor in the closely contested Indian smartphone market in the all new Vibe K5 Note.

The company announced two versions of the phone, differing in RAM amount (3GB vs 4GB). Let’s take a look at the spec sheet real quick.

Lenovo Vibe K5 Note Specifications

Gizchina News of the week

  • 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080p display
  • MediaTek Helio P10 MT6755 processor
  • 3GB / 4GB RAM
  • 32GB ROM
  • 3500mAh battery
  • 13 mega-pixel rear camera with PDAF
  • 8 mega-pixel front facing camera
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Dolby Atmos audio

The Vibe K5 Note will sell for 11,999 INR ($179) for the 3GB RAM variant, and 13,499 ($202) INR for the 4GB RAM version. Pricing seems well thought out, but what I don’t understand is the usage of Helio P10 processors, when Helio X10 (or preferable, Snapdragon 650/652) can be used.

Indian readers, what’s the phone that you’d go for given a 15,000 INR budget? Let us know below.

If Lenovo wanted to really compete with Redmi Note 3, why did they opt for lesser specs for CPU, GPU Adreno 510 of RMN3 better than Helio Mali of K5Note. Smaller battery.? Seems Lenovo executives want to fight an AK-47 equipped guy with a pop gun. Perhaps if priced less than 10k for 3GB Version, some chance, otherwise Xiaomihave the market already, they just don’t seem to be able to produce enoughRMN3 to satisfy Indian demand.

This one will tank hard, and real soon. I know my fellow Indians all too well – like we say Gangs of Wasseypur style, “Keh ke lenge uski”.

Lenovo ki maa ki – P10 for a higher price vs the 650 / 652? Ghar jaa be. They’ve lost it completely. A MediaTurd P10 phone should sell for 6-7k Indian rupees, maybe 8-9k with large ram fitted and other “compensating” niceties.

      Anyway, time will tell.

It has jack squat for LTE bands so it is just another 3G phone like Xiaomi. Compared to the 650 the P10 is a joke.
