While the Xiaomi Mi Mix definitely stole the show, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 boasts some impressive specs, on par with the now defunct Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Xiaomi is definitely turning up the heat on Samsung. Some might say that’s unneeded as they are already smoking, but I’ll leave that up to your interpretation.
The camera is a 22.6MP camera with a maximum photo resolution of 5488×4112 and 4x optical zoom. It will also be capable of 4K video recording at 30fps, however it will not feature OIS (Optical image stabilization) but use EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization).

We here at GizChina came across a few very impressive camera samples over on MyDrivers showing off what the IMX318 sensor and f/2.0 wide angle lens are capable of. Of course, these are promotional pictures and will most definitely have been taken using a professional photographer, set up perfectly, and touched up to no tomorrow, but nevertheless, it does look impressive.
Check out the camera samples down below as well as the settings used in each shot. This also tells us that the Mi Note 2 will most likely have a manual shooting mode coming right out of the box. Xiaomi has offered excellent camera sensors for most of their recent phones. If thy could just get their camera software optimization to match the hardware capabilities, they could really take their phones to the next level. Hopefully they will finally do that with this phone.
Im not sure if this is a good sensor(IMX318) ,the IMX398 and IMX 386 look more promising,

It’s a 1/2.6″ with 1 micron pixels, built in (to the signal processor) auto focus and EIS FOR video. Crazy thing is Sony has a listed price of just $18 for the sensor, likely for just a few dollars more a better sensor (IMX378) could have been used.
I think the IMX378 in the Mi5s is a better sensor than this imx318. Was actually kind of surprised to see them us a different sensor in the note 2. Would have made more sense to me to use the imx 378 in the Mi5s, Mi5s plus and the mi note 2, and focus on optimization of one sensor rather than having a different sensor on each phone. I don’t think the IMX318 is a bad sensor, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

First of all stop comparing with Samsung Galaxy Note 7 ! …still xiaomi note 2 is not good enough to compete with 8 months old galaxy s7 edge. …yukkkkk dreaming of note 7… it is same as a old Chinese phone’s comparison to nokia.

Xiaomi doesn’t have name of it’s own that’s why they even stolen the name… and just making a phone with bigger screen doesn’t make it note 🙂

Cant compare those 2. Ill be surprised if Mi note 2 gets anywhere near s7 and iph or pixel duo.
