Today Meizu finally managed to pull a fast one and launch a device we really weren’t expecting.

Earlier today Meizu announced the Meizu M5 (unsurprising) but they also announced their very own Flyme powered Android TV box.

The triangle shaped device has been priced at only 299 Yuan and will come in either black or white. The Android-powered box runs a Flyme OS skin for the launcher and will come with Youku, Sohu, and PPTV applications as standard.

Hardware on the Meizu box includes 1GB RAM, 8GB memory and a quad-core 64bit 2Ghz chipset. The rear of the box has ports for Ethernet, 1 x USB and HDMI out. The included control connects via Bluetooth and uses either voice search or physical controls.

At this stage the Meizu Box is only headed towards Chinese living rooms, but it’s only a matter of time before someone hacks the device to run additional apps, and use an English UI.
