Ahh, good old Zopo. The company used to be well known for their high quality devices, but now they’re more known for overpricing everything. Despite that, the company has still managed to hold on all these years. Now they’ve just announced their brand new device, the Flash G5 Plus, and it’s unfortunately more of the same.
In terms of specifications, the Flash G5 Plus has a 5.5-inch display and a 1920×1080 IPS display. Zopo boasts that the display is bezel-less, though we’re not sure if that’s anything amazing anymore. Under the hood, the Flash G5 Plus runs a 64 bit octa-core MT6753 chipset along with 2GB of RAM and a disappointing 16GB of internal memory. It can be expanded up to 64GB via an SD card, but it’s doesn’t help all that much.
Other than that, the device also sports a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, both sporting LED flashes. There’s a fingerprint sensor on the rear of the device, and the battery is a 2800mAh unit. The dimensions of the device are 153.6 x 75.5 x 8.3mm, and it weighs in at a surprisingly bulky 206g.
Gizchina News of the week
The Flash G5 Plus boasts some pretty interesting features, but there’s not really much you won’t find on other devices. There’s a nice dual glass build, and both sides feature 2.5D glass, but that’s not really all too unique anymore. The front is supposedly bezel-less, and while the amount of bezel is impressively small, it’s simply not as astonishing an effect as it used to be. It also allows you to splitscreen certain applications to accomplish more, but that’s also nothing new.
Overall, there’s not really anything too exciting or new here. The Flash G5 Plus falls into the same category as many other new devices in that it’s simply not too interesting. We’ve no doubts that it’ll also be more expensive than similarly specced devices, killing any chances it had. What are your thoughts on the Flash G5 Plus, or just Zopo as a whole? Tell us down in the comments section below.
It stinks. And the speed 8 is still missing. Why can’t they just make good phones? It’s not that hard to put up a decent spec sheet!
Not only uninteresting but a brick at over 200 grams. Plus for a supposedly bezel-free phone it should have been less than 75mm wide.
after 3X it has been almost everything downhill for them, and we are talking about 2 years ago.
mt 6753?,.. what?? 2GB RAM?? WTF? for a 2017 model, this would have been news in 2914!!
Half the phones this site ferociously promotes are lesser specs and looks than this one.
It’s a midrange shiny phone, wtf is wrong with that, besides Zopo not paying for favorable and excessive coverage?
Not to mention that this is actual news, as opposed to empty teasers, shameless promotions or obvious fake news presented as leaks.
How long before we see 45 teasers for a 720p mt6735 low end machine from a brand that pays for coverage?
The difference is that this device is going to be much more expensive than those, months after they launched. We barely write about any MTK6753 devices anymore, and this device is months late to the market. Where Zopo will excel is in offline sales, but I doubt it’ll get much attention online.
I’m surprised that they even exist any more. They used to have great phones (I owned zp990+ and still use zp999 as a backup phone and my brother still use zp 1000s which I gave him for birthday 2 years ago). But none of this phones got any updates on newer Android version. After zp999 everything went down for them. What is happening with speed 8? I can’t find it almost anywhere to buy it. Really can’t understand people in charge at Zopo mobile. And now mtk 6753 2gb ram as something wow. Really? Wtf
lol zopo are just a comedy show, how are they still in business? MT6753 was announced in 2014 lol
Company died actually in beginning of 2014. The day when you could import the 6589 powered Xiaomi Hongmi, for 160$ then. It beat the ZP1000 of that time, sold around 300$ in every department. Especially in the camera compartment
