Alleged leaks of the Huawei P10 pop up

Huawei G9

The next device in Huawei’s P-series of devices is only a month away, but that’s not going to stop leakers. Some renders of the device have been leaked, revealing the device’s rear and front designs. These renders reveal some fairly odd choices on Huawei’s part, though there’s not really anything drastic.

The main difference is the fingerprint sensor’s location. On previous P-devices like the P8 and P9, the fingerprint sensor would be right in the middle of the rear. This made it easy to reach and simple to use, but now Huawei’s moved it to the front of the device. This is in line with the Huawei Mate 9 Pro’s fingerprint sensor, so it’s not too shocking.

Gizchina News of the week

The rear once again features a dual camera setup with the Leica label on the rear. The laser autofocus and LED flash are in the same position as previous devices. And finally, in place of the fingerprint scanner we now have the Huawei logo instead. This time it’s the complete logo, not just the name of the company.

The front of the render shows us the now front facing fingerprint sensor along with a few other things. For starters, it seems like the Huawei P10 will feature the same curved glass design like the Mate 9 Pro. On top of that display we have sensors, the earpiece and the front facing camera, as well as a smaller Huawei logo.

Overall, there aren’t that many changes to be seen on the new P10’s design. It’s fairly odd to see the fingerprint sensor moved to the front for no apparent reason. But aside from that and the new display, it’s disappointingly similar to the Huawei P9. What are your thoughts on the Huawei P10 so far? Tell us down in the comments section below.

“It’s fairly odd to see the fingerprint sensor moved to the front for no apparent reason”: for no apparent reason? How about: they realised the front is the much better place for it?

      That’s incredibly subjective.

Lol, aren’t ALL opinions? 🙂 But anyway: Give me one good reason that you’d prefer the fingerprint sensor to be on the back instead of at the front.

Scroll pictures/web pages, answer calls, stop the alarm in the morning … It is perfect on the back … I have P9 Plus and on the back is the place where it should be. Unfortunatelly I didn’t managed to make it scroll the web pages 🙁

And all of these actions are better performed with a sensor on the back because?

It’s still very subjective tho. Same can be said with the front on all these actions are better performed on the front because? Down to personal preference, really. I, personally would prefer it to be on the right side since it where my thumb rest when I hold my phone or where my index finger is when I’m using my left.

Still, there’s no need of mentioning “It’s fairly odd to see the fingerprint sensor moved to the front for no apparent reason” in this post tho. Reason from Huawei could just simply be of a design choice; wanting the back to look cleaner and such. There is no such thing as no apparent reason, really.

Personal preference will definitely play a role. Also, I guess if you never thought about it before you bought yourself a device with the sensor on the back, I guess you’ll get used to it. I for one, bought one with the sensor on the front on purpose (OP3), because of the way I use my phone: A lot of times, I wake up my phone and operate my phone while it’s lying on a table. With the sensor on the front, I can do all that without having to pick it up first, to reach for a button on the back (one that is out of sight at that).

nice, but boring design…like Samsung’s. yes, it’s edge display is something new on Huawei, but it still looks like last year flagship….can’t stand next to design of S8 and f.e. Mi MIIX
