ZTE prototype runs Firefox OS!

Mozilla, the developers behind the Firefox web browser found on the majority of PC’s around the world (well at least before Chrome that was) have turned their eye towards making an Android competitor in the form of Firefox OS and it has already been spotted running on a ZTE handset!

Firefox OS has been in the pipes for a long time and now the covers have finally come off the new mobile OS as it has been shown off running on a ZTE phone in the below YouTube video!

In the video we get to see Firefox OS running on a prototype ZTE phone which seems to deal with the lightweight HTML5 based os with ease!

Firefox OS will get its own app market much like Android Play and the App store on OS which is likely to fill up pretty quickly as developers already comfortable coding for the desktop browser flock to make a name for themselves, and a few dollars, on this fledgling mobile OS.

Firefox Mobile OS hands on video!

Mozilla have stated that we won’t see a FF powered phone in stores until 2013 and Brazil is going to be the first official home for this exciting new OS, I can’t wait for Chinese phone makers to get their hands on Firefox OS and see what they can make of it!

Are you guys excited about Firefox mobile OS or are you sticking with Android?

    Isnt Firefox part of Google?

  4. September 10, 2012

@BulwaX, no firefox is part of mozzila.org

Seems like a cousin of Android, however let’s see if Mozzila has learned from the past mistakes of Google (OS fragmentation). Also, Firefox OS is using round buttons, bad news for Apple, they can’t sue them for copying. ( I bet they’ll find something …like: mobile phone using a touchscreen patent 😛 )

Andi, Looking for a list compiled by you on Highest / Biggest battery decent Chinese mobile phones.

I’m looking for some Mega battery Android phones. But don’t want to go for Motorola 918XT MAXX. Hope other users will also find this list useful.

    Why compiled by you?
Because I trust you and your ability to fairly evaluate a mobile phone. 😀

@Max I will try and put together a sort of monthly list of the current phones. I just need an extra few hours in the day 😉

    @Max
Just a thought… you can buy a phone that suits you and when your battery is out of juice you may use a power bank if you can’t use a charger.
Besides, most of the new Chinese phones come nowadays with large batteries. As you can see on Andi’s latest review of Zopo Zp900, it has a large 2,300mah battery which serves higher than average usage for 24+ hrs.
Often, you’ll have 2 batteries offered when you purchase a Chinese phone. And remember, larger battery= bulky and heavier device …

@Metanastis Either a power bank or a charger both means extra luggage, which i avoid. I’m mostly a no paraphernalia guy. Just a wafer thin wallet with some cash,card/key and a phone. That’s the way i like to go. 😉

I know there are few with 2500mAh’ish battery phones. But the 5″ screens also eat up juice. Not to to mention that Android 4.1 and 1GB RAM can also sae some battery. Atleast compare to Android 4.0 and 512MB RAM.

    Weight / Thickness Difference:-
    http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_razr_xt910-4273.php
    Motorola RAZR XT910 (1780mAh): Dimensions -130.7 x 68.9 x 7.1 mm , Weight -127 g

    http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_razr_maxx-4666.php
    Motorola RAZR MAXX (3300mAh):- Dimensions – 130.7 x 68.9 x 9 mm , Weight -145 g

    [ Battery capacity difference:- 1520mAh
    Thickness difference:- 1.9 mm
    Weight difference:- 18 g ]

Now seriously! doesn’t this worth it.
All these extra weight/bulk etc. theories are carrier/manufacturer made Rumors/Lies/bullsh!t to save some extra $5 dollars on bigger battery. That’s it. Period.
