This Indian maker is prepping a $30 VoLTE phone

A few months back we learnt about a phonemaker that wanted to push a $4 smartphone in the market. We all know how that turned out, but this time around there’s some more believable news coming out from India.

Once up and coming phonemaker, Micromax, is preparing a couple of uber cheap phones with VoLTE. Known as the Micromax Bharat 1 and Bharat 2, both phones will have 4G VoLTE and are expected to cost 1999 INR and 2999 INR ($30 and $46) respectively.

Gizchina News of the week

According to local media, the Indian phonemaker is looking to move around 5-6 million units of the phones in the offline Indian market.

Micromax, once a strong contender in the Indian smartphone scene, has lost a lot of its market share and brand visibility in the previous few months. The company would be hoping to revive a bit of that with these phones, and build on it in the future.

Micromax is a company with extremely inconsistent track record. Unless the previous mentality of pushing trash unto market is changed not even a Million units will get sold.
