It’s time to roll out the red carpet for the new Oukitel device, because the dancing around Oukitel U16 Max is now officially over and the phone is released now. Global launch will start on March 28th on Aliexpress with a special price tailored to that.
So what are the highlights of the biggest Oukitel phone up to date ? Before we just list up the whole list of official specs let’s just go over the main stuff with a few comments. The 6-inch JDI LTPS display is surely nice, but keep in mind it’s only packing HD resolution, which can feel a bit lackluster for the size. And as for the processor let’s hope it’s really the swan song for the MT6753 and we can safely put it where it belongs for the future, the history books. But despite these minor flaws the phone can offer quite some punch for the money.

I don’t understand something. There is huge, trusty and well known AOSP based project LineageOS (former CyanogenMod). All of those Chinese made devices have serious problem with software support. Why don’t you guys just use LineageOS – you will be up to date and get help of their many experienced developers/contributors. The only thing you will have to do is priovide libs from SoC manufacturer. Is it really so difficult?!?!? I would really love to buy some MediaTek or Spredtrum based device (like many people) … but the support :/ As an example, I have now Moto G3 with LineageOS 14.1, the latest one (nightly). Phone manufacturer dropped support for it already (shame on you Lenovo!) and it stucks on 6.0.1. Thanks to LineageOS I run now 7.1.1 with zRAM enabled w/o any problems! Those Chinese devices are really good in context of specs and would benefit even more from LineageOS!
