It looks as though the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 could be launching sooner rather than later, as the next generation concept phone appears online.
With the launch of the Xiaomi Mi6 yesterday and the chances of a Mi6 Plus coming soon being slim, Xiaomi fans who want a larger phone might have to opt for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, and there’s some good news.
Although Xioami hasn’t officially announced the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, online reseller Gearbest has already jumped the gun and listed the baseless handset online starting from $848 for the 4GB RAM variant rising to a $1094 for the top of the line 8GB RAM version.
According to the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 listing the new phone will be available in either black or white from the day of launch with internal memory options ranging from 128GB to 256GB.
Gizchina News of the week
The new phablet will boast a bezel less 6.4-inch 2560 x 1440 AMOLED display and rather than the odd front facing camera of the original, we might see a slide up camera module on the rear which brings a 13 megapixel camera into view. Not sure what we mean, then take a look at this Elephone concept from earlier in the week to get the idea.
The listing states the Mi Mix2 will have a Snapdragon 835 chipset running at 2.4Ghz, rear fingerprint scanner and single main 19 megapixel camera on the rear. Full details of the phone aren’t listed but Gearbest do say the Mi Mix 2 will ship with MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.
I don’t trust Gearbest. Their prices are often really inflated although they occasionally have a few good deals. They also often list a phone as being some ridiculous amount off, like 50% or something, when the price they are actually asking is still as high or higher than what you can find on other online retailers’ sites.
