Smartphones have been evolving rapidly in the last years, cameras got so much better, as well as processors power and efficiency. Where we are a bit behind is battery technology, which hasn’t drastically changed throughout this time.
Phone manufacturer have then begun to equip their devices with bigger batteries, but that does come at a cost — thickness, which some people are willing to put up with in order to increase battery life. We indeed have stopped seeing super slim flagship smartphones below 7mm of thickness in favor of bigger devices with bigger batteries.
Some examples are the Samsung S8 (3000mAh, 8mm), OnePlus 3T (3400mAh, 7.35mm), Xiaomi Mi 6 (3350mAh, 7.45mm) and the Nubia Z17 (3200mAh, 7.6mm).
But what if you could achieve both at the same time? An ultra-thin phone with a big battery? Well, it looks like UMIDIGI is working on that with the nearing UMIDIGI Z1, which comes with the catchphrase “The thinnest long life flagship phone”.
Gizchina News of the week
UMIDIGI are indeed going to launch a smartphone that is only 6.95mm thick, and while we are not yet to know how much battery capacity it’ll carry, by looking at their slogan we can assume it’ll be more than 3000mAh, hopefully between 3500mAh and 4000mAh, more than that feels almost physically impossible.
You can learn more about the UMIDIGI Z1 over on the company’s official website. Visit it for a chance to win one for free.
