I guess most of you know about the upcoming Android One smartphone by Xiaomi, in close cooperation with Google. The device will be a first for the Chinese company as it marks their only non MIUI based device soon to be available in the market.
Gizchina News of the week
Latest leaks from Weibo suggest that the phone will be called Xiaomi Mi A1, it will run on pure Android (with faster Google updates) and it will be based on the basic design of the recently unveiled Xiaomi Mi 5X model. It will be equipped with a Snapdragon 625 chipset by Qualcomm, along with a nearly bezel less full HD IPS display, 5,15 inches in size.
We have already seen the leaked images in this article, but this time we know they belong to this upcoming Android One model from Xiaomi. Some rumors suggest the device will be unveiled on September 5 but this hasn’t been confirmed and… Xiaomi hasn’t hinted recently on the matter.
What do you think guys? Would you buy an Android One mid-range Xiaomi model without MIUI interface?
I’d totally buy one if it was priced well. The whole point of Android One devices was to have google phones with software updates direct from Google at an affordable price right?
Android 1 devices suddenly get approved under a LOT of company security policies.
It’s an entire new market almost – Company smartphone.
Give it an 835/45 though, or at least an 820/821 – 625 Antutu of 60k is too low.
Or helio x30
This looks suspiciously like the previously leaked photos of the (suspected) Mi Note 3
Could be interesting with a SD660, but not again a phone with a SD625, this thing is too slow for my needs…

It definitely looks like a bad Photoshop… Especially the third picture. Look at the top bezel – the top line and the screen edge are not parallel.
I think the phone will basically be a standard phone with generous bezels. Android One is not known for gorgeous hardware.

It’s a nice idea, but only for export. I live in China and as much as I crave for googapps, I have to deal with shite fake chinese apps totally eaten by the central government from this dictatorship. But, for people lucky enough to live outside China, that’s a good thing, at least it means you can change the language, and you can avoid Tencent bullshits, or the usual obvious backdoors. Which aren’t backdoors anymore, as the Chinese security law openly stated that it’s legal in China to record and keep in their archives, each single data regarding your daily life. GPS, Wechat, Weibo, purchases via Wechat waller or Zhifubao Data. Indeed a smart move from Xiaomi. They are coming back in my list.
