The Google Pixel 2 has been rumoured to sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 836, an updated version of the current flagship starrer Snapdragon 835. But the latest report says that Qualcomm never had any plans for the 836.
The rumors about Snapdragon 826 can be attributed to the fact that the Pixel phones featured the 821, a bumped up version of the 820. Recent leaks and rumors indicated towards presence of the 836 in Pixel 2, but Pixel 2’s FCC filing revealed that the smartphone sports Snapdragon 835.

The Snapdragon 835 is one of the fastest chipset on the market. 845, successor to the 835 is expected to be the processor which will run the flagships of next year. But as of now, there’s no reason to believe that the Snapdragon 836 will exist. Another rumor surrounding the 836 was its presence in Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 2, which was debunked by Qualcomm China on Weibo in a post that confirmed the presence of the Snapdragon 835.
The 2nd generation of Pixel phones is expected to be unveiled on the 5th of October. Right now there’s no solid report on the specification or features of the 2nd generation Pixel phones, but leaks and rumors do not suggest a big change in design from the previous generation.
