Battery life is one of the most important deciding factors in purchasing a smartphone nowadays. Because, after all, what do you need one for if you run out of juice in the middle of the day? Well, Elephone seem to have taken that under consideration and that’s why their latest Elephone S8 comes with a bigger battery than you’d think.
Let’s get into the specifics now: how big of a battery is it? Data in hand, the Elephone S8 comes with a 4000mAh capacity battery. That’s quite a big battery if you consider the latest Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 featuring the “same” 6-inch display only comes with a 3400mAh battery.
Gizchina News of the week
Sure, the Elephone S8 might not be as thin or have a similar screen-to-body ratio compared to the Mi MIX 2, but isn’t that what we’ve been asking companies in the last years? Give us a slightly bigger device and fill that additional space with battery. Well, Elephone seem to have done just that.
Elephone say that the bigger battery can achieve 480 hours of standby and 10 hours of continuous calling, we’ll let you know if that’s true once we get our hands on the device.
If you can’t wait for our review, you can get the Elephone S8 now over at Gearbest for $239 in the 4GB/64GB version.
Elephone is a shitty company, stop shilling for them.
Truthfully, almost all of the “mediatek vendors” (as I like to call companies like Elephone, Umidigi, Doogee and Bluboo) are really sketchy.
The only exception that I’ve seen so far is Vernee (they do a surprisingly decent job updating their phones, plus their quality is decent).
Anyway, rant aside, i’d personally suggest getting something more established and with proven quality (Xiaomi, HuaweiHonor, ZTE Nubia).
U sure abt that? Vernee?
Yes.
I’ve had an Apollo and a Mars, both worked very well, no issues with build or software, good battery life and even a couple of updates.
Hater spotted with guest account 😂😂
Elephone has lied before, MANY times.
Are we sure that battery is actually 4000mAh?
They lied about the back cover (claimed it was “lumia glass” when it’s actually plastic).
They lied about the battery capacity on their phones before, are you seriously trusting Elephone?
That’s like trusting a murderer with your kids.
I think it was Umi, not Elephone who claimed fake battery capacity.
You’re correct, IIRC the Umi Super and their older Umi Hammer S both lied about the battery size. Their Rome also lied about the display resolution.
My point still stands (even more so now), all of these shady chinese companies like Elephone, Umi, Homtom, Bluboo and Doogee need to be shut down.
As an avid Android enthusiast that primarily takes interest in Chinese companies, these low-effort manufacturers are really grinding my gears.

4000 mAh!! If I’m not wrong then this is the maximum battery capacity that Elephone has ever used. Great to know that it supports fast charging 🙂
In the reviews Mrwhoistheboss said Umi digi Crystal, Doogee Mix all are having fake dual rear camera! Now finally this one comes with a single 21mp real camera. Hahaaa.. great job.
4000 mAh capacity battery backup is not a jock. After this news i’m so happy and excited that Elephone provide us this facility.
Every one has a big problem that there phon’s battery backup is not good. But Elephone S8 comes with 4000 mAh battery backup .I think this is a great step.
Already i did use some smart phones. But all phone’s have the same problem. The battery backup. Elephone informed us that S8 comes with 4000 mAh battery backup. And now I can’t wait to grab this phone.

Is it true that it’s screen to body ratio is more that Xiaomi Mix?? I read that Xiaomi Mix has 92.3% where as this has 94.4% !! Is it true??
Of course it’s smaller than that, more in the zone of 87%.
How much time Quick charge PE+ takes to change from 0% to 100%?? And what’s the average screen on time for this device?

I just placed an oder for the phone at $239.99 after nearly every reviewer gives a positive review, except for the headphone jack and led notification. I hope it’s worth it otherwise I’ll be really pissed.

Now I’m liking this device from the positive reports of recent times. S8 it the best among its competitors.
I hope the massive 4000 mAh is well optimised and it can give 1.5-2 days of battery backup

One evening last week after one month of use my S8 heated up to the point that I thought it was going to burst into flames, even after I switched it off. Now it’s dead. Gearbest want me to pay more for postage and “handling” for a “free” repair than I paid for the phone in the first place. In short, I’ve been robbed of 200 euros. Be aware that your rights when buying from China are non existent. Even if the device has a dangerous, potentially life threatening fault. Don’t do it.
