Well that didn’t take long. Vivo was prompt on our date and just a few minutes ago unveiled the Vivo X20 and Vivo X20 Plus models in China.
Both phones feature a 3D arc design that is designed to provide a comfortable grip in your palm, along with metal frame and an ultra-fine zirconium sand spray that gives a super smooth feeling.
Vivo X20/X20 Plus Official Specifications
Vivo X20 is the smaller of the duet and comes with a 6.01 inch 18:9 display that occupies 85.3% of the front of the phone. It’s equipped with a Snapdragon 660 SoC, along with 4GB of RAM and 64/128GB storage variants. The device also comes with a new AK4376A for HiFi audio and packs a 3245mAh battery inside.
The larger model (X20 Plus) comes with a huge 6.43-inch 2160 x 1080 super AMOLED display crammed in a 5.85-inch body. Inside you will find the same Snapdragon 660 chipset and 4GB of RAM but it is available in just one 64GB storage variant, with microSD slot expandable up to 256GB). It also has a larger 3905mAh battery capacity.
Gizchina News of the week
Both phones offer dual SIM support, Bluetooth 5.0, dual band WiFi, and a micro USB port for connectivity. There are also fingerprint scanners on the back of the phones that support payment and can control the cameras too. Both the Vivo X20 And Vivo X20 Plus run FunTouch OS 3.0 based on Android 7.1.1 out of the box.
Camera features
Both phones have dual camera setups on their backs, in a 12MP + 5MP configuration.
The X20 Plus model is different in its camera features, as it’s capable of video recording with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), as the Vivo V20 has just EIS. The 12MP f/1.8 sensor is unique as it can take images up to 24MP. Pair that with the 5MP secondary sensor and you get high quality bokeh images.
There’s also a 12MP f/2.0 selfie camera in front of every phone, that can shoot impressive portraits with dual-pixel technology.
Meet Vivo’s Face Wake technology
Vivo has created their own Face Wake technology that promises to unlock the device in just 0.1s, as it detects up to 128 different facial features before proceeding to unlock the phone.
Pricing and Availability
In case you’re ready to buy one of these two beauties, then you’d better read along: the Vivo X20 will start at ¥2998 (~$455) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB model, and ¥3398 (~$515) for the 128GB variant. The Plus model will cost ¥3498 (~$530). Both phones will be available in gold, rose gold and matte black.
“full screen display”, “bezeless”, ‘2.5d”, “mark proof” what should the next lie be??
“invisible borders” ??
Almost all of those are industry standard terms that are used by just about every company.
Bezel-less kinda implies having invisible borders, no? The next marketing buzzword might be ”holographic display” ;).
or “3D holo display” to keep it punchy and easy to remember even for simple minds. Maybe even “4D holo display” because 3D is already outdated xD
you forgot “infinite display”, which is pretty neat and kind of sexy in a metaphysical way

too expensive
impressive how BBK sells almost the same designs in three brands Oppo,Vivo and Oneplus but still sells so much! theyre really smart they order components not for one brand but as a whole large batch which keeps price down and theit profit per phone is bigger! smart !
Arsenal or Chelsea ?

For you, you mean…
yes
Vivo always came with really nice headphones in the box, Hifi audio chips, well optimised camera’s (here we have dual front/rear), long time software updates/optimalisations. And lets not forget they are innovative.
Yeah, they don’t come cheap but i guess they have their place in the market.
well said
fair enough !
i’m waiting for a complete package from them, something along the lines of
– Flagship SoC ( SD 845 would be good)
– Quad cams (dual front/rear) with monochrome sensors of similar mpx
– atleast 6 GB ram
– stock android
– BEZELESS FHD or preferrably 2k display
– inscreen fingerprint + face recog
Thanks, happy we can have good discussions!
Yes, Xplay 7 will be introduced in not to long time, still not fully bezel-less and it will not have SD845 (but should be more than enough power). So you will probably have to wait for next year for a phone with these specs.
For me, i’m also interested in the new Google phones that will be introduced in 10 days from now. I like camera centric phones.
likewise
pleased to have had this discussion
where you from, pal ?
I’m from holland and into smartphones since the HTC TyTN…
I’ve used over 100 smartphones for shorter or longer periods and then sold them.
Where are u from?
nice, a classical connoisseur !
i’m from Karachi,Pakistan
mobile phones interest me as they’re related to my field (computer engineering) as well as on an enthusiast level.
Good to meet here my friend, actually i saw some posts of you previously if I remember well. Because of your job you’ll have more knowledge than most here.
Now about Vivo: Of the phones I had, for me the Vivo Xshot was one of the best if not THE best of its time.
So, good memories and expensive yes, but things like ES9038 & OPA1622 on a xplay6 don’t come cheap when implemented.
