Google Clips, the newest camera from the tech giant based on AI

Google’s event saw the launch of the Pixel 2 line of smartphones, new speakers, Bluetooth earbuds, and of course the new laptop. Apart from these products, Google also announced Google Clips, which can be called as an alternative to the Snapchat Goggles, the difference being that you don’t have to wear it on your eyes.

Gizchina News of the week

When Snapchat introduced their goggles, the motive was to create a device that could capture moments that would otherwise be lost until the time you opened your smartphone camera. The only drawback, they’re goggles, and you can’t really wear them everywhere. Here’s where the Google Clips comes into the picture. It is a small camera that can be snapped onto your backpack to capture those moments without a second’s delay. How this works is that Clips determines whether any “interesting” moment happens. Interesting being defined by the device. The best part is that it captures motion photos that last a few seconds. It has 16GB worth of internal memory. It pairs with your smartphone over WiFi and can be used for offloading photos too.

Google Clips records footage at 15 frames per second. Now that is something which might be a deal breaker. The upside, it might give you some great GIFs. Clips will retail for $249. It will have support for the Pixel phones, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus and a few Samsung devices.
