MGCOOL are really working hard in their action cam department as of late. They have now released some more details about the upcoming camera going to enter MGCOOL’s Explorer lineup. It will indeed feature EIS as well as a gyroscope; let’s learn more about it!
It’ll come obvious to some of you that EIS stands for Electronic Image Stabilization, which will of course help in making the video recorded on the camera much smoother. As you well know EIS won’t be as good as OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), but it’s still better than nothing on a camera that will probably be very affordable.

MGCOOL also say that the upcoming action cam will be small in size, so the addition of EIS and a gyroscope is quite an achievement for the Chinese electronics manufacturer.
On the software side, MGCOOL announced the camera is going to adopt a new video coding standard, which is the successor to Advanced Video Coding (AVC), also known as H.264. With the new video encoding algorithm you’re getting the same video quality for about half the space, so it’s a win-win situation.
This is as much as we know about the next MGCOOL Explorer camera, we’ll update you as the company reveals more details. For first hand news about the camera you can follow them on Facebook.
