Sony Xperia ZG Compact appears on Geekbench

Sony released the Xperia XZ1 Compact back in August. The latest report lists the Xperia ZG Compact, which popped up on Geekbench.

The listing reveals a few hardware aspects of the Xperia ZG. For starters, it sports the MSM8994 chipset, codename for the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 clocked at 1.56GHz, which is a really old chipset for 2017. It is coupled with 2GB of RAM and runs Android Nougat 7.1.1. The phone scored 1334 points in the single-core test whereas it scored 2954 points in the multi core test.

Gizchina News of the week

Now, let’s get to the facts. Sony just released the XZ1 Compact and had not indicated about any other Compact device in the works. The chipset used in the ZG Compact is back from 2015 coupled with a mere 2GB of RAM, a quantity that even affordable phones sport. There is no hint that says that this device is indeed something we should look forward to. Maybe it’s just another test device for measuring the performance of the phones with different versions of Android. Sony has not said a word about any Xperia ZG Compact smartphone, which means that the report might be fake, or just another device from 2015 that has been rebranded. We suggest you take this report with a pinch of salt!
