Vernee Apollo 2 coming with all-screen design and Helio X30

Vernee Apollo 2

Seems like the tradition will continue, because just recently Vernee announced via a Facebook post, that there will be soon coming a successor to the Apollo lineup. And today we have for you some exposure about this particular model – Vernee Apollo 2, so we can have some initial idea what to expect.

Acording to the exposure poster we can clearly see, that Apollo 2 will be sporting large screen-to-body ratio catching up to Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the very obvious 2.5D curve design could even indicate it could be using the same Super AMOLED screen. Apollo 2 should also be featuring metal build, fingerprint scanner in the back and dual rear cameras support the portrait mode.

Gizchina News of the week

As for the hardware Apollo 2 will be allegedly equipped with some heavy hitting setup including Helio X30 processor, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB of internal memory. The price shouldn’t be higher than $400 and the official announcement is expected to come during MWC 2018 in Barcelona, so the wait won’t be long.

Soc Price isn’t the same than X20…
Modern 10nm vs cheap nearly unused 20nm process…
Modern UFS 2.1 nand vs cheaper eMMC5.1
      Lte cat 10 vs 6
And at least 2.5 Time more powerfull GPU!

X20 isn’t a Real high-end soc (even if I like mine very much)
      X30 is!

Agree that Xiaomi is more serious (update), but I will never buy Snapdragon (unfair patents abuse according to many condamnations – it kills competitors)

just because they have strict patent rules..doesn’t mean their processors are bad..
Qualcomm Snapdragon are leading in mobile..its more powerful & Effecient.
Despite being a US company..they are fighting Apple,Intel & other companies.. and thats good

You know that 80% of Qualcomm’s benefits are made on patents. (In 2016)
In my opinion patents are overpriced (about 600% marge Still in 2016!!!)
Patents are paid on every devices, including devices that use soc from competitors.
Qualcomm Can Make more benefits than Mediatek on a device that use a soc from Mediatek. Crazy!

Right their soc aren’t bad (some were in the past)…i like their 625 for exemple.
But in the past they managed to sell well crappy ones like 625 or 410 even if mt6752 or 6732 were far far far better!
Easy the benefits from patents allow you to sell your soc cheaper.

Qualcomm leading the mobile but is about to kill it.

Kill lte soc from Intel, NVIDIA, Texas instruments, broadcom, St-microelectronics…

Kill high end from Mediatek (in my opinion they released only 2 high end soc : mt6595 and Helio X30…they can’t sell them well). No x40 announced!

If you want to have the choice between Apple, Samsung Huawei or Qualcomm, you have to accept that price will grow…I don’t want that…

My next will probably be Helio P40 or P70…and I probably have to import it from China, because you probably won’t find any in Europe!
Don’t need a benchmarks complient, but most time useless, GPU.

Right, but as there will be no Helio X in 2018, X30 stays the best soc from Mediatek this year…
P40 and P70 won’t be better, will use 12nm (when X30 use 10nm), will use a half powerfull GPU and aren’t available yet.

Not the bigger GPU is usefull…
I just get a Pad with PowerVR6250 (2 cores PowerVR is like about 4 cores Mali of the same gen, but PowerVR6 is 2 Gen older) and 2560×1600…games seems to be ok.
7400 from X30 is more than enough even in QHD!

The Question is : will Vernee release sources like on Apollo Lite?

            • Allanitomwesh
              January 17, 2018

Indeed the sources are a serious question, and the P70 can only hope not to be buried by SD670. The GPU on SD670 especially is potent. The Mali in the P70 doesn’t stand a chance, let alone P40.

Sources are related to the OEM…for exemple, Sony released sources…
Here and there, you can find devices with released sources for many soc from Mediatek

              On mid-range GPU aren’t better on Snapdragon…
T760mp2 on mt6752 was better than Adreno 405 on S615
T880mp2 on P20 is close to Adreno 506 on S625 (and even better on complexe rendering that use Tesselation)…

Mali G71mp4 on P70 is more than enough to run any game on a Fullhd screenshots and even to run most of them on QHD.

Heavy GPU are made for benchmarks…sometime I even think that benchmarks are made for these GPU.
It gives reasons to buy to consumers.

P70 or S660/670 should kill high-end market if You’re talking about Real use! but it won’t because testers will say : look that S845 Amazing benchmarks!
In real use, you won’t notice any difference between devices that make 100.000 and 180.000points on AnTuTu!

SD615 and SD625 were trash, at least SD625 has low power consumption. SD652 was the real beast. SD670 should bring back those days.

615 is pure trash! 8 A53 cores and behave like 4!
625 is a good midrange…behave like it should.

652 throttle like a pig! Less than 810, but far far far more than X20! Even if people think the opposite!

670 is very interessant, like the future P70.
These have usefull power when S845 will have benchmark complient power

for brand recognition and advertising how about selling the first 2 months sales with price 350usd or 370? i believe it will be huge sales and brand recognition if able to sell at 350usd but still not that 399.99usd price? after first 2months of sales, you may sell at 400usd because reviews&recommendations (if good quality) will be doing their job of attracting new customers for you.
don’t forget camera and battery department(in addition to cpu) if you want buyers to see the difference and try to prefer you over nubia/xiaomi/oneplus etc…within the same range price

If it will be expensive atleast they should add US band spectrum to it. Like they did on Vernee Active.
