OnePlus 5 and 5T have an update to enable HD streaming, but you won’t like the procedure


Both OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T owners felt a little underwhelmed when they noticed that their flagships couldn’t stream HD content. The reason? Well, both devices were lacking a specific certification that would allow streaming the SD content.

Thankfully, or not, the Chinese company has now a program to update and enable the feature on both the handsets, but you may not like of what you have to do in order to get the feature working.

The Widevine L1i s the certification required by major HD video streaming services, however, it needs to be installed via a physical connection with an authenticated computer. Other than that, there is no way to install the certification on OnePlius 5 or OnePlus 5T.

If you really want to enable video streaming on your OnePlus 5/5T you’ll need to send it back to OnePlus, after the magic, the company promises to send it back in at least 5 working days. Furthermore, the company will cover any couriers costs from its specific service regions – India, North America, Europe and China. All the users elsewhere will have to pay the cost by themselves.

    Or just pirate it if they wont let you stream to your own device. Build an HTPC and use Sonarr to download whatever series you want.
