Yesterday, at MWC 2018 Nokia announced up to 5 new devices. The most remarkable of them is the Nokia 8 Sirocco. It comes with a number of selling points and thanks to them this smartphone should make a tough competition to many top brands. Thus it’s quite expected to see Nokia’s results improved in the first quarter.
The brightest feature of the Nokia 8 Sirocco is the design. It is using a glass and metal combination. That’s why the phone provides a great touch and visual experience. Apart from this, it sports a 5.5-inch 2K pOLED screen curved on both edges. The display is also covered with the fifth-gen 3D Corning Gorilla Glass. The company also claims the frame is made of a single piece of stainless steel. Therefore, it provides the best build quality and solidness. However, the thickness is 7.5mm. And it comes with an IP67 rating. We are dealing with a dustproof and waterproof handset. As you guess, the 3.5mm audio jack is removed. At last, the fingerprint scanner is on the back.
Gizchina News of the week
In terms of hardware, the Nokia 8 Sirocco is packed with a Snapdragon 835 chip. Many may think it’s outdated. But the SND835 is the most popular chip that can be found even on laptops. Anyway, the SoC is paired with a 6GB LPDDR4X memory and 128GB storage. The 3260mAh battery supports for QC4.0 and Qi wireless charging. Thus the Nokia 8 is the first phone of the company supporting wireless charging. The rest of connectivity options include a support for 802.11ac (MIMO), Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and GPS / GLONASS.
On the back, we have a dual-camera using a 12MP wide-angle sensor with a f/1.75 aperture as well as a 13MP telephoto sensor with a f/2.6 aperture. This camera supports 2x optical zoom and comes with Zeiss optics. The front camera uses a 5MP lens with a f/2.0 aperture.
Nokia 8 Sirocco will be available in early April at a price tag of 749 euros.
The list of much better phones for less than 750 euros is just way too long…
