It’s a never-ending battle that has been fought since the inception of the smartphone: Android or iOS, which one’s better? From serious discussions to funny memes, both sides have been playing for years now! But according to a study, it seems that Android users are much more loyal to Android than iOS users are to iOS. And I kid you not, this is not some comparison chart compiled by an Android or iOS fanatic. It is a legit study by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) and they are pretty serious about what they do.
Gizchina News of the week
The study by CIRP has turned up figures indicating that Android has a loyalty rate of 91%, as compared to iOS’ 86%. The study takes into consideration the percentage of US consumers who stuck to their previous operating system when they upgraded in 2017. And as it turns out, Android users are more loyal to Android. This is not new. Android has topped the operating system loyalty chart for over three years now, with the last time iOS being on top being 2014.
Mike Levin, Partner, and Co-Founder of CIRP, said,”With only two mobile operating systems at this point, it appears users now pick one, learn it, invest in apps and storage, and stick with it. Now, Apple and Google need to figure out how to sell products and services to these loyal customer bases.” But he also said,”Looking at the absolute number of users in this way tends to support claims that iOS gains more former Android users, than Android does former iOS users.” Now this means that Android is losing their users to the latter, thanks to iOS becoming more and more flexible after each update. Will Android stay on top of the chart next year too? Only time will tell!
