Watch makers Hublot present their first Wear OS watch

Hublot throw their hat into the Wear OS ring for the first time

Smartwatches, some people love them, some people just couldn’t care less for them. Hublot, luxury watch makers, have always been in the latter category, at least until now. Now, they’ve got their bets firmly in the former with their very first Wear OS watch, the Big Bang Referee 2018 World Cup Russia. Yes, it’s an incredible mouthful, and it’s not that great of a name for a smartwatch, but I digress.

First thing’s first, we’ve got to establish the fact that Hublot is a luxury watch brand. This essentially means that any watch from them is going to be needlessly extravagant, and the same applies here. With a 13.9mm thick Kevlar and titanium body, the Big Bang Referee 2018 World Cup Russia is possibly the best built Wear OS device. The default watchface will simulate a basic analog watch. You know, because people who buy this thing totally want to keep a low profile.

spooky

The device is a 2018 Fifa World Cup tie in product, if you couldn’t tell from the name. Thus, there are many football related additions in here for fans. You get live information about results, goals, and cards for every match, as well as reminders for future matches. Referees get a more customized version that will have access to instant replays, follow the trajectory of the ball and will vibrate once the ball has crossed the goal line.

The 49mm Wear OS watch has an AMOLED screen with a resolution of 400 x 400 pixels. There’s also 5 ATM water resistance on board here, which is always welcome. No battery size was given, though the it’s expected to last at least a day. The price of the Hublot Big Bang Referee 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia is CHF5,000 which is around €4,200/$5,200. There are only 2018 units available, so be swift if you want one!
