Moto Z3 Play gets FCC approval, key specs revealed

The first leaked case renders of what is alleged to be the next iteration of the Moto Z2 play, the Moto Z3 play, appeared online a few hours ago, giving us a clear understanding of what the device might look like in the design department. Now, barely hours after the case renders first surfaced, the latest report says the alleged Moto Z3 Play has scaled through the FCC certification process in the US revealing a few details about the upcoming device.

First sighted by Nashville Chatter Class, the FCC filing reveals the alleged Moto Z3 play will come with the XT1929 model number, but a few other model numbers were also listed with different number of supported SIM based on locations. The XT1929-1 and XT1929-4 support just single SIM, XT1929-5 supports dual SIM function while the XT1929-6 and XT1929-8 variants will come with support for both single and dual-SIM functionality, and are all destined for different locations.

Gizchina News of the week

Coming in at 156.23 x 76.7 mm, the Moto Z3 play is said to flaunt a 6.1-inch display which is quite in line with the Z2 play, and that could be an indication that the device might be compatible with the current crop of Z2 mods. The device will pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor (SDM636) coupled with 4GB RAM + 32GB ROM or 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM.

Other details revealed by the source includes a 12MP + 8MP dual sensors on the back, a 5 MP camera for selfies, a 3000 mAh battery, and will obviously boot the latest Android Oreo OS out of the box.

We have no reliable information on the pricing and possible release date of the upcoming device, but we expect to see more details about the upcoming device in the days leading to its unveiling.
