LG V40 codename exposed in a new leak

A new leaks from prolific mobile tipster,  Evan Blass, who many see to be a demigod when it comes to anything leaks suggest that LG might have just started working on its next major flagship V series smartphone – the LG V40. An early hour tweet from Evan Blass says the LG V40 smartphone is codenamed Storm  – a moniker that suggests that the device when released will shake the segment of the market it fits into.

While Evan Blass didn’t reveal anything else about the device, it appears the device will carry the LG V40 ThinQ branding, as it seems the Korean phone maker has recently shifted from normal branding to include the ThinQ suffix to its V and G series devices.

Whether or not the LG V40 will be released as a direct successor to the V30S ThinQ and V30S+ ThinQ still remains unknown, but that is however not likely considering that a recent leak from China suggest that a V35 ThinQ is already in the making, so there are chances the LG V40 will be released much later in November/December.

Gizchina News of the week

The leak, first reported by Androidheadlines reveals that the LG V35 ThinQ will come share some features with the LG G7 ThinQ. It is expected to come with a 6-inch display with QHD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Surprisingly, it should have an 80% screen-to-body ratio which is pretty low compared to today’s standards. However, there won’t be a notch on the handset, if that is any consolation. The display should be edge-to-edge and usable with one-hand giving great colour reproduction. The display is expected to be OLED instead of a p-OLED panel. More details on the LG V35 ThinQ here.

It appears too early to speculate what the LG V40 might bring to the table as most of the attention is focused on the upcoming LG G7 ThinQ scheduled to arrive on May 2 in New York.
