HTC’s next flagship phone – the HTC U12+ has surfaced on Geekbench – a few hours before it is due to be unveiled. And judging by the Geekbench scores, the HTC U12+ is certainly not a device to jeer at – it got the power to take on top flagships from Samsung, Huawei, LG, Xiaomi and even OnePlus.
First reported by Gsmarena, the HTC U12+ with model number 2Q55100 pulled a total of 2407 in the single-core test, and 8894 points in the multi-core test and that puts the device in the same range with the Galaxy S9+ with a single core 3648 points and 8894 in the multi-core on, according to the official Geekbench table. According to the test, the HTC U12+ uses Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM and will run Android Oreo out of the box.

In addition to how the device performs, we have also in the past got hints about how it may look – thanks to series of leaks and renders. Recently, the HTC U12+ was spotted on the company’s official website even though it didn’t remain there for long. However, that small window was good enough for an entire spec-sheet leak.
As per the listing, the handset will have a 6-inch WQHD+ resolution display with 1440 x 2880 pixels, but thankfully with without a notch. The Snapdragon 845 inside is no surprise as is the recorded 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Although it is possible HTC might launch 4GB RAM variants too. The battery was reported as 3,500mAh capacity.
One startling revelation we got from the brief listing is that the HTC U12+ could sell for as much as $920, a price tag we consider overboard for an HTC phone with not much reception as the flagships from Apple, Samsung and Huawei.
Interestingly, the price tag might not be so accurate, as the device could sell well below that, so we might have to hold for the official price when the device goes official in few hours time.
