Notch-haters have been dreading the launch of the Google Pixel 3 ever since the release of Android P preview. When Google released the preview, it clearly had support for different types of notches. This was a subtle hint that the future Pixels will soon be joining the notch army.
Today we have live images of a Pixel 3 XL that shows doesn’t shy away from the camera and shows the notch in full. As can be seen in the picture, it is on fastboot mode. Thankfully, that lands us with some more nuggets of info. For example, crosshatch is the codename of the Pixel 3 XL, and it appears here on the screen giving more legitimacy to the leak. It seems there’s an odd 4GB + 128GB combo of RAM and storage on the device.
Looks-wise, the front has a narrow notch, the ones we’re used to seeing on Android phones like OnePlus 6.

There are two sensors on either side of the speaker grill, at least one of which will undoubtedly be a camera. Also, the rear is made of glass and the previous design of the Pixel 2 remains intact here. Moreover, the surprise here is the single camera. It was rumoured that Google would eventually transition to two cameras but this leak says otherwise. The images are not of the highest quality and so we’ve had to hold our opinions on some aspects of the hardware.
There doesn’t appear to be a front-facing speaker on the bottom bezel. So, this a very disappointing development, if it turns out to be true. That bottom bezel is useless, and Google is friends with front-facing speakers for some years. We hope we see some more clear images so we can get a good confirmation on this.
