BCN: Huawei Enters The Top 5 In the Japanese Smartphone Market

The Chinese smartphone market is already saturated and the competition is so intense that even the largest manufacturers are looking for alternative markets. Xiaomi has established a strong foundation in India and it is the top smartphone brand in the country. Now, BCN has released the best brand in the Japanese market. Recently, Japanese technology media, BCN statistics, showed the daily sales of Japanese smartphones on June 16th. Huawei successfully broke into Top 5. This makes Huawei the top Chinese manufacturer in Japan even though it still trails to Apple overall. The 64GB variant of Apple’s iPhone 8 from NTT Docomo, SoftBank and au occupied the top three spots respectively while two models of Huawei P20 Lite took the fourth and fifth spot. Sharp and Sony are two other manufacturers to make the top ten list.

Gizchina News of the week

Compared to its previous year, Apple sales have dropped by about 10% and we see that the 4th to 10th spot is occupied by Android devices. It seems that the Japanese are very keen on the cheap models of Huawei brand. Considering that the Japanese smartphone market is an operator-led market, the ranking has certain reference value to the carriers.

PS: BCN statistics are daily sales data collected from major home appliance stores and e-commerce platforms in Japan, covering about 40% of sales counters in the country.
