More Huawei Ascend D2 photos leaked!

Huawei’s 5 inch 1080 phablet, the Ascend D2, has been caught on camera yet again this time with a few nice close up photos!

The Huawei Ascend D2 can’t seem to keep away from prying eyes, and has yet again been caught on camera in some detailed, pre-launch spy photos.

As we can see from these leaked photos, the rear of the Ascend D2 will feature a similar clear plastic over white plastic rear as the Meizu Mx2 and also on screen navigation. It also appears to be rather thick, in comparison to the Nubia Z5 and ZTE Grand S, which is likely due to the rumoured 3000mAh battery.

While I understand it isn’t that easy to make a rectangle shape attractive, I have to say that (from these photos) the Huawei Ascend D2 looks to be the least attractive of all the 5-inch phones we have seen to date.

ZTE’s Grand S and Oppo’s Find 5 look have more design flare to them as does the Nubia Z5, but at least the Ascend D2 can compete on raw power.

Reports are still suggesting the Huawei Ascend D2 will come with Huawei’s own 1.5Ghz Quad Core K3V2 CPU, 2GB RAM, 13 mega-pixel rear camera, and 3000mAh battery.

There is no word on if the D2 will get a micro SD card reader, or what memory sizes we will expect the phone to ship with, but at 3299 Yuan ($528) we hope it get’s at least 32GB!

If Huawei are going to use their own processor I think it will be a better idea to look at other phones with Qualcomm quad core processors as they are more powerful and power efficient as seen in benchmarks. The K3V2 seemed good against the Tegra 3 but its a different issue when matched up against the Qualcomm S4 Pro also it doesn’t provide Huawei with a cost advantage.

I agree especially about cost. With their own CPU and Huawei’s buying power I’d expect to see this phone around the 2900 Yuan mark!
