Meizu has been quite late to the bezel-less party. On top of that, they have been heavily reliant on the physical mBack button which has been a staple in almost all the Meizu smartphones. Jack Wong, the company’s CEO, has revealed that mBack is here to stay, albeit in a different form.
The mBack button has been quite an innovative approach towards navigation. It works both as a fingerprint scanner and a single button for navigation via gestures. Meizu has already updated their Flyme UI to implement Super mBack technology allowing for in-display gestures. Large screens and thin bezels leave little space for any kind of physical buttons. Since the CEO himself has assured that the mBack is going to stay, expect an innovative approach to its new form.

The next in line, Meizu 16 series might sport the new mBack version. Rumors are rige that there will be two variants of the 16. They will be unveiled in August according to previous reports. There is a possibility that one of them will be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 while the 845 will power the 2nd. A recent report showcased the Meizu 16 with a full screen display, dual cameras and no physical mBack button. Not just this, Huang Zhang, founder of Meizu stated in an earlier report that the Meizu 16 will be the most cost-effective smartphone sporting the 845 chipset. Will their claims hold true? Only time will tell.
