For those of us not conversant with some of the most recent happenings in the mobile world, Huawei, earlier this year announced a trio of smartphones- the Huawei P20, Huawei P20 Pro and Huawei P20 Lite. The Huawei P20 Pro also has three rear cameras, whose photographic ability silenced the best offerings from any OEMs including Samsung and Apple.
While Samsung and Apple are already said to be prepping their own response in form of the Galaxy S10 with triple rear cameras and a triple camera iPhone, a new rumor making the rounds today suggest LG Mobile may be on the verge of taking it a notch further as it is reportedly planning on introducing the LG V40 with not, not three, not 4, but a total of five camera comprising of three rear cameras and a dual camera setup at the front
The LG V40 if it becomes a reality will take on from the LG V30 ThinQ which is a mere upgrade over the V30, and if the five camera setting pans out will become the first smartphone to come with such feature.

The new rumor comes courtesy of Android Police, and to be clear, the dual front-facing camera will have the face unlocking feature, and will also take the path of Apple and the Xiaomi Mi 8 with its 3D mapping solution. As for the rear camera setups, LG is expected to take carryover its usual arrangements – a standard sensor and the company’s signature ultra-wide lens, while we assume it might use the third camera for depth sensing and increasing the quality of images from the two other.
Androidpolice further reports that the LG V40 will take its design cue from the LG G7 ThinQ, but with a somewhat larger display, and the infamous notch which will have the option to turn it off. At the heart, the v40 is said to come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor. Although the report doesn’t share photos/images, it says the device will once again feature LG’s quad-DAC, a dedicated Google Assistant button on the side, as well as a rear fingerprint sensor.
Expect to hear more about the V40 in the months to come as it is tipped to arrive later this.
