It turns out 15-20% of new iPhone purchases are made by former Android users. According to the latest CIRP data, from September 2017 to March 2018, Android purchasers tend to gravitate towards both larger and cheaper iOS-running models.
Not surprisingly, the most popular model for those ‘new’ buyers is the iPhone 8. 40% of customers/switchers acquire this model. As for the older iPhone models, they perform well. Obviously, they cost less. That’s why still many former Android users switch to them. After all, the iPhone 7 accounted for 25% of all purchases, while the iPhone 6s its larger variant accounted for 15%. But they have lost their popularity among existing iOS customers.
The iPhone SE shows surprising data. Though it is one of the weakest sellers among Android customers, the SE still accounted for over 10% of sales. It’s twice more than the rate of iOS users.
Gizchina News of the week
Supposedly, the iPhone X, which is the best iPhone ever launched still manages to grab Android users’ attention. This phone is very popular among iOS users. But we didn’t think it will become popular among Android owners because the market is full of notch screen phone running on Android. And they cost way less. Probably, these figures will modify a lot after taking into consideration the Xiaomi Mi 8’s sales.
However, it didn’t even account for 10% of all purchases made by Android customers, while for iOS users, the iPhone X was the second best-selling series after the iPhone 8, accounting for over 20%.
These figures show a respectable percentage of Android users are switching to iOS. We know Apple runs large marketing campaigns to grab Android users’ attention. And it turns out this strategy pays off. But it would be great to take a look at the opposite picture – how many iOS users are switching to Android?
i wonder how many IOS users switch to Android as well.
Plus Android still holds an enormous part of the market share over 85%.
