Xiaomi MI Max 3 Launching on 19 July

The Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is all set to be launched on the 19th of July. The Chinese phone-maker had teased yesterday that they would be announcing something important today. Xiaomi took to Weibo to unveil the Mi Max 3 launch date.

The poster confirms what we already know about the Mi Max 3; a large display and battery. So far, the Max 3 has made quite a few appearances, revealing its design and specs. From an earlier TENAA listing, we know that the phablet will sport a 6.9-inch display with a Full HD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The Snapdragon 636/632 is expected to sit under the hood coupled with 3GB/4GB/6GB RAM along with 32GB/64GB/128GB onboard storage. There will be a dual camera setup with a 12MP and 5MP snappers. The front camera will be an 8MP snapper. The battery is supposed to be a massive 5000mAh unit. It is expected to arrive in black and gold variants with a price tag of $1699 (~$253).

Another report claims that there is one more variant of the Max 3, the Mi Max 3 Pro which might be powered by the newly launched Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset. A listing on NCC confirmed its existence.

Phablets were made to allow bigger screens on phones at the cost of huge bodies. With the increasing screen-to-body ratio, the size of the screen has increased without increasing the phone size. So, the question here is, do we really need a phone like the Xiaomi Mi Max 3? Let us know in the comments below!

screen width is that of a 6.3 Samsung Mega (circa 2013)….the silly 18/19/21/22? 23? etc aspect ratios allow for such misleading diagonals (with proportionally smaller actual screen areas)
